Skip to comments. How many people onstage with Obama today have successfully enrolled in ObamaCare?

The White House communications team had three weeks to find 10-15 people who’ve actually enrolled in O-Care via Healthcare.gov to serve as human props for an Obama press conference on this subject. Three weeks. And yet, according to the WH’s own mini-biographies of the people invited to the Rose Garden today, just … three have successfully registered so far. Last week, Bob Laszewski estimated that no more than 20,000 people had managed to enroll in the site’s first 14 days or so online. If the White House had this much trouble finding a dozen or so for one of O’s biggest photo ops this year, I’ve got to wonder if the real number’s significantly less than that.
Byron York has reproduced the full White House release on today’s attendees. Among the lucky 13 is someone who’s “looking forward to enrolling for health coverage this fall,” someone who “recently began researching her options” on California’s state exchange, someone who “plans to comparison shop” on Healthcare.gov, and someone who’s “exploring what new coverage options will be available,” as well as a few people who are happy they can stay on their parents’ insurance under the new rules about age. All of which, ironically, is true to the spirit of today’s presser: In theory, this was going to be a “mea culpa” moment for O in which he explained in some detail what’s gone wrong with the site and set a timetable for when it would be running smoothly. Instead it was an infomercial for ObamaCare with a few perfunctory references to the “kinks” crippling Healthcare.gov. “There’s no sugarcoating it,” O said at one point about the site meltdown — except that the whole point of the presser was to sugarcoat it, right down to inviting people onstage who haven’t managed to actually register yet thanks to HHS’s Geocities-caliber tech. Says Peter Suderman:
Just a few weeks ago, Obama was telling people that the exchanges would be as simple to use as Amazon, or an online travel reservation site like Kayak.com. Now hes telling people they must rely on a phone and paper process that is, at best, extremely slow.
Obama’s speech, in other words, was designed to tell people how Obamacare could work without the online exchanges. Which strongly suggests that he and the rest of the administration believe that, at least for the time being, that’s the only way it’s going to.
Exactly. Today was all about buying time for website repairs and trying to combat ominous polls like this, which show the public’s perceptions of Healthcare.gov bleeding over into their perceptions of the ObamaCare program generally. Which it should: After all, the website’s problems are a direct function of the premium hikes mandated by the law itself.
Turns out even the call-center experience touted by Barack “Popeil” Obama today as a fallback option is confusing and frustrating. As icing on the cake, here’s a new spot from the propaganda ministers at HHS, who found the one guy in America who thinks it’s “pretty easy” to comparison shop on Healthcare.gov. Why wasn’t he onstage with O today?
Daniel's Covered. You Can Be Covered Too!
To the headline: the same number of doctors in lab coats at the signing of the bill
one of the “success” stories is Zohre Abolfazli of Brentwood, TN. If you research, she and her husband muhommed appear to live in a house worth $663,000 according to Zillow.
She and “Mo” own a business in the richest part of Nashville too.
Props are easy to find most of them looked like they got a day pass from the local mental institution but we knwo them as mindless libtards zombies, hard to make the distinction
Not a single utterance from obama today was the truth. He cannot tell the truth. It is not within him.
Satan is the Father of Lies.
Obama's two campaign and OFA websites were state-of-the-art. I mean, they were top-notch and even I will concede they were brilliantly done with the optics. You know he had the real best and brightest design these sites.
Fast forward to now. The signature bill he signed that is the Holy Grail for leftists has a website that clearly doesn't work. Remember folks, this is the Holy Grail for the Left. They should have gotten this up and running as soon as Roberts pulled something from his ass and made this into a tax.
It's clear that all of this is designed to fail. Watch what happens. The media will now run sob stories about how people can't sign up and have no health insurance and have to run to the "greedy" private insurance for coverage. And then there will be the drumbeat for single-payer, just as Sen Reid called for.
Maybe they can get Vince the ShamWow guy to pitch ObamaCare.
p.s. And would Laz hit the ObamaCare Chick?
1-800-318-2596. The next fifteen callers will also get a limited edition 0bama feinting towel so call 1-800-318-2596 right now!!!
He’s also a liberal, and all liberals lie. They can’t help it, because it comes natural to them.
Depends on what you mean by hit, or do you mean hit on?
You might be right, but I think the simple fact is that Obama is a saleman of pie in the sky, not a baker. The campaign handlers did not run the ObamaCare operation — US government commissars did, and they are simply incompetent.
In any event, this government’s demonstrated failure to even create an e-commerce website to handle insurance purchases for a paltry 15% of the population (by Obama magic, it’s not 40% anymore) hardly makes a case for letting government handle every item of healthcare for 100% of the population. The ObamaCare fiasco should have destroyed single-payer as a concept for a generation.
ObamaCare serves the Democrat’s plan to maximize the number of people dependent on government for subsidies. Simply vote Democrat to continue getting your $250/month handout. Unlike single-payer, ObamaCare is not designed to reduce costs, but to increase them. The higher the cost of coverage, the more people will enter the subsidy game, which will also be a disincentive to work/earn more. Among other things, ObamaCare is a scheme to buy Democrat votes with public debt; no wonder registering to vote is part of this “health insurance” program.

Well, we know that one of them was not Obama himself.
Zohre Abolfazli of Brentwood unexpectedly wound up standing behind President Obama on Monday as he defended the Affordable Care Act while admitting the failures of the government website that have prevented people from signing up for health coverage.
She was visiting her daughter, Leila Abolfazli, and her two grandsons in Washington, D.C., where the daughter works as senior counsel for the National Womens Law Center, when the family got a call Saturday about an opportunity to participate in the presidential address. Leila Abolfazli told the organizer her mother was a fan of the law and explained why.
Suddenly, the 60-year-old small business owner from Brentwood had an invitation to the White House, but no dress to wear and a flight scheduled home before the big event. She had brought along jeans, tennis shoes and T-shirts comfortable clothes for playing with her grandsons, ages one and three. Her husband Mo (short for Mohammad) thought she was telling a fib when she called to say she was staying in D.C. a couple of days longer.
She chose to wear red to the White House, but she was not the woman in red who fainted.
This new law, this Affordable Care Act, it will help lots of people, she said. I have family members and friends who really, really need insurance. They are waiting to do some kind of surgery. They cant because they dont have insurance. I really wanted to hug him, but I shook hands.
Abolfazli, who owns Mail Room Services Inc. and has lived in the Nashville area for 35 years, said she has also benefited from the law. Her premium went down last year, she said, and she no longer has to fork out co-pays for mammograms. She plans to shop for a more affordable plan on the insurance exchange, where she said she registered in under 10 minutes. She does not know whether she will qualify for a subsidy toward buying coverage.
President Barack Obama gestures while speaking in the Rose Garden of the White House about the initial rollout of the health care overhaul. Zohre Abolfazli of Brentwood is at the president's left in the red jacket. Obama acknowledged that the widespread problems with his health care law's rollout are unacceptable, as the administration scrambles to fix the cascade of computer issues. / AP
