NEW YORK The driver of an SUV involved in a bloody weekend confrontation with a throng of motorcyclists was put in grave danger and feared for the life of his family when he drove through the crowd, striking a biker on the street, his wife said Thursday.
Rosalyn Ng said in a statement that she and her husband, Alexian Lien, had been planning to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their 2-year-old daughter on Sunday afternoon, but instead they were swarmed by a motorcycle rally on Manhattans West Side Highway.

I am a biker of 15 years in NYC and as far as I can see Mieses had it coming to him (sorry friends and family) as well as every other idiot biker who threatens the well being of others. This tragedy (Lien) could have been averted if the Mayor, chief of police, and representatives of motorcycles got together a long time ago to address the Wild West situation of bikers in NYC. I lived in Harlem and now Inwood and in both communities menacing biker idiots are given free rein. There are packs of kids riding illegally, mini-bikes, 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, no helmets, no mufflers, incredibly loud, racing around where ever they want and aggressively. The message is loud and clear to idiots like Cruz and his comrades: you can get away with it in NYC.
Without exaggeration I have logged well over 100 calls to precincts to ask them to crack down on aggressive bikers that disturb the peace and in 15 years I have witnessed only one intervention as plain-clothed policemen drag down some kids on dirt bikes—glorious as it was. I cringe to think of how many other peoples calls are routinely ignored because as the prevailing wisdom goes, by the time they get a squad car on it, the bikers are gone. I even went to the community meetings at the precinct about this issue and the boiler plate NYPD response was: it poses too many risks to others if they pursue.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that if we really wanted to manage the biker situation we could. This whole thing is just a serious failure of leadership and action of City Government. NYC should be prepared to close down streets and to surround and incarcerate packs of aggressive bikers. NYC needs to deter the biker idiots and bullies and at the same time recognize motorcycles as legitimate modes of transportation worthy of the protection and conveniences afforded to cars and trucks.
One story reported that the squids were trying to block/clear a portion of the Westside highway for their exclusive use, and apparently became angry when the driver of the SUV didn’t get the picture, and continued on his way.
Seems to me they were lucky he didn’t drive over more of them, and frankly, the mob was pretty much “shootable” at the point where they had him blocked in and then pulled him out of the car. Too bad the constitution is suspended in NYC.
Where were the cops who are supposed to patrol the West Side Highway?
The one who started the whole incident, Alex Cruz, according to our local paper has had 17 traffic tickets
since 2001.
This includes speeding, 5 for careless driving, 2 for unsafe operation and has had license suspended 4 times...
In other words your typical thug.......
These situations are what 30rnd magazines and 75rnd drums are for.
It’s stupid wolf pack mentality
Idiots looking to learn a cheap lesson in physics.
Mieses and friends are in a ‘club’ known as the HOLLYWOOD STUNTZ.
And you are correct, they have been doing this for a while now.
I know liberals who are gun owners but also try to tow the democrat line on gun control. One said “There’s no reason to have a 50 round magazine. Oh, how I’d love to see a video of him getting mugged by this moto gang. He fires six rounds then gets his head bashed in. His last thought would be “I should have brought a larger magazine.”
You almost need a supercomputer to add up the number of traffic violations committed by the “riders” in those videos!
“Mieses and friends are in a club known as the HOLLYWOOD STUNTZ.”
I’ll take a wild guess that he’s no relation to Ludwig von Mises ;)
Didn’t the cops intentionally route those sub humans onto that highway to prevent them from coming into Manhattan? I believe I had read that somewhere. If that is true the they could be partially liable here.
They allowed and even condoned unregistered vehicles to use the public roadways. They should have busted them for all that and careless and reckless driving. But wait... I can’t buy a 32 oz soda or carry a gun.
One ton truck, 6 inch lift, grill guard. Problem solved.
Another thread here on FR a couple of days ago stated that this biker had a long string of driving ‘incidents’ in a number of states.
The National Drivers Registry had informed all states that he was not to be given a license. Under current info, he wouldn’t get a license back until 2017.
This miscreant & his thug biker buddies set up this entire event & now they are crying wolf. I don’t buy it.
ABC this AM ‘interviewed’ another of the bikers & that puke tried to say that the SUV driver was the one driving erratically.
I wonder if he realizes that the video taken by one of his budies shows that the SUV wa minding his own business & driving perfectly straight when the swarm of bikers surrounded them?
I expect that the bad guy who got run over will try for a civil lawsuit. I hope that every single nano-second of footage showing the bad behavior of the bikes gets shown over & over again to the jury.
He doesn’t deserve a dime. He caused his own trouble.
He didn’t belong out there on a bike in the first place.
Along with his mis-deeds, there is apparently ample evidence the cops have that the license tags on many of the bikes were stolen or actually non-existent.
NO sympathy here. Cry me a river.
Every single one of those bikes needs to be confiscated & sold & the money given to the family in the SUV.
It also infuriates me that Commissioner Kelly stated that over 200 calls had come in, that day, about these jerks, before the SUV incident. Why wasn’t anything done before that??
Oh, because Commissioner Kelly and Hizzoner are too busy policing your food and making sure you can’t protect yourself and your loved ones against armed, murderous thugs.

I like the way you think. I’d add a snow plow.
