Considering that invoking cloture STOPs debate, I'd say that she's lying.

"As this bill returns to the House, I hope we can resolve these issues and keep the government running."

Uh oh, she's gotten into Bammy's stash of Hopium.

She was one of 25 Republican Senators to join the entire Democrat body forcing 0bamacare down Americans throats while at the same time exempting herself, her family and her staff from obamacare...plus they get Cadillac coverage while we pay for it!!!!

ROT IN HELL!

“It’s unfortunate...”? It’s “unfortunate”!?!? Ms.Ayotte, what is unfortunate is that the good people of New Hampshire put their faith in you to be their voice in the United States Senate.

It is “unfortunate” for them, and disastrous for the nation.

Wow....just wow : /

I fully support defunding, repealing and replacing Obamacare.

Sure she does.

And leaders of both parties in both chambers are providing cover, especially for those up for reelection and need to appeal to their constituents.

They have been playing that ole shell game for decades.

Leadership knows when they can allow 'defectors', especially when those 'defectors' are in tight reelection campaigns.

Sorry, Senator A, but you excuse is a canard. Many (but not enough) of us have been on to that ole shell game for a long, long time.

NH can’t do better for a conservative? This is as bad as Flake in AZ. They bare-*ssed lied to their constituency to get electied, then in the US Senate sabotage their constituency from within.

I know I might be attacked for stating this, but I’ve been so buried trying to keep my job(no excuse, I know!) that this last week just confuses the hell out of me! I had no time to actually listen to Ted Cruz, however I was thrilled he did it because it got some people where I work talking for a change. But, all these procedural moves are complicated in my way of thinking, and they seem to do it so the true message gets garbled. So Ayotte comes out and says she “did the right thing”, why do I just not believe that she did, or she did for the right reason?
Right now I’m at a point of really believing that 99% of what comes out of a politicians mouth is a lie.

In that speech, I also stated my view that shutting down the government is not an effective strategy that will successfully stop the law...

Shutting down the government could be viewed as having a temper tantrum or crying for righteousness. It will not stop Obamacare, indeed. But a shut down can draw attention to the train wreck of a law, before the LIV get their free stuff.

The Dems are counting on the idea that enough people will get hooked on Monstercare before the Repubs have the power/votes to repeal it.

The idiot repubs screwed themselves when they repealed the O-care provision of reporting purchases over $600 to the IRS. It would have been a pain in the backside for the LIV, just the thing to start the repeal process sooner, but the stupid party struck again. I wondered at that point if the repubs really wanted a repeal.

Had this vote not succeeded, debate in the Senate would have come to a halt

So, a motion to halt debate had to succeed to prevent debate from being halted?

"'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.'
'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'
'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master — that's all.'"

Had this vote not succeeded, debate in the Senate would have come to a halt - making it harder to prevent a government shutdown.

Ummm, debate continues. What doesn't happen is the vote on the underlying issue, and the vote doesn't happen because the debate continues. She voted to STOP debate, not to continue it.

Parliamentary procedure 101.
