Republican divisions over the party's strategy in budget battles exploded into the public sphere Wednesday evening. In feelings that have been brewing privately for some time, House Republicans let their anger out at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). And they accused him of surrendering on the plan to defund the Affordable Care Act (AKA: Obamacare). Earlier Wednesday, Cruz made a statement that applauded House Republicans for proposing a spending bill that strips funding for Obamacare, a crusade that Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) have led over the past few months. But Cruz also conceded that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid "has the votes" in the Senate to strip the defunding language from the continuing-resolution bill (meaning that the Senate could never pass the defunding bill). And he called on House Republicans to "stand firm, hold their ground, and continue to listen to the American people." In other words, he called on the House GOP to shoulder all of the burden of the defunding fight the fight of which he has been the face. That concession, before the fight has even begun, enraged House conservatives. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) issued perhaps the most terse statement. "House Republicans have stood firm. We have voted to defund, repeal & delay Obamacare dozens of times. It is time for Sens. Cruz & Lee to show they can hold the line against Senate Democrats," Duffy said. "Let's hope they do not surrender before the fight even begins."

Pretty much.
What budget? If there were a budget, we wouldn't need continuing resolutions.
Powerful words. These and those like them throughout history are what keeps me on my toes. Wish there was a Vulcan mind meld to wake up a large segment of the clueless population.
If you defund Obamacare and take it off the table, then what? It’s not going to happen. The Dems run the Senate, Obama will veto. There isn’t going to be an override.
Keep your powder dry. Suspend it, toss it back at the Dems and Obama. Watch the grenade go off. Win elections, fix country, win more elections, fix country some more. Repeat for a generation.
Listened to an interview this afternoon on my local WIBA 1310AM radio. My Senator, Ron Johnson (R, WI - kicked Rusty Feingold (D) to the curb!) says the ONLY thing that will STOP 0bamaCare is a WIN for Republicans in 2014 to take over the Senate and then taking over The White House in 2016.
Until then, we’re pretty much f*cked.
Even if ALL these machinations take place, Reid ain’t gonna take this chit to the Floor, nor will he take a bill like this to 0bama to sign. And even if he DOES, 0bama won’t sign it.
That’s HIS opinion. Not necessarily MINE.
Ron Johnson is spot on.
Yes. Yes, he is.
I, however, would like to see some FIGHT for ONCE from the RNC. A girl can DREAM, can’t she? ;)
‘The Rollover Party.’ *SPIT*
Correct. The House can pass whatever CR they want, and so can the Senate. At the end of the day, it's the House of Representatives that holds the checkbook and pays the bills.
Even if both the House and Senate agree to a Continuing Resolution that funds Obamacare, the House can at its discretion upon vote by the House Membership refuse to "cut the check" to pay for Obamacare.
The beautiful thing about it: The Senate can't do jack-shit about it.
The only question is: does Boehner have the balls to not cut the check after the CR is passed?
Based on past performance, I'd say no.
The House of Representatives holds the checkbook. They cut the checks and pay the bills. That is how our government works.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what CR or budget is passed and ultimately signed by Obama. If the House of Representatives doesn't cut the check to fund Obamacare -- it doesn't happen. Period.
Senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin should know that. Unfortunately, he like damn' near everyone else in Washington DC "serving" up there on Capitol Hill have forgotten their high school civics.
(Please copy and paste the above into email to remind him ...)
They weren't House Republicans; they were gutless-coward traitorous RINOs.
“reminding them of their CONSTITUTIONAL ROLE in our Government’s FUNDING and SPENDING process”
Yes, that would make it clear that the Dems are shutting down the government because they don’t like what the House agrees to spend. Like children holding their breath because they didn’t get what they wanted.
Instead the media, which wants the government to borrow every cent it can and distribute it for consumer spending for their advertisers, will blame the House for any shutdown.
the BI is a far left rag owned by big Dem donor .
Believe nothing spit out by this dem pr rag.
I’d like to see your dream a reality. That means winning control of the Senate in 2014 and the Presidency in 2016.
“Perhaps a march on DC would help?”
I’d rather see a blockade and boycott. I hope the truckers will refuse to supply the DC area. Tourists and conventioneers should refuse to go to DC.
The truckers won’t. Everyone’s a cat and there’s no one to carry out the herding.
Doesn’t say that Cruz is giving up the battle. I see this as an acknowledgment of why we need to have more like he and Paul in the senate. Harry has stuffed these bills for the last several years. Why would now be different?
The Free Trade Communists would go HomoErotic if conservative GOP try to fix the Trade Deficit....heck look at all the Free Trade Communists on here who keep preaching that nonsense
Of course...fixing the Trade Deficit would fix our economy
Neither would Boner or McChuckles.
