When I teach journalism classes, I like to shock the students by telling them that journalists aren’t professionals in the sense that doctors, lawyers, accountants or even beauticians are.
You don’t need a license or a degree to work as a reporter or editor in this country; in fact, if Congress or a state decided to license journalists the Supreme Court surely would blow its 1st Amendment whistle.
And yet ... though government doesn’t license journalists, for decades it has defined journalists for certain purposes. Exhibit A: Although the Supreme Court has rejected the idea that reporters have a 1st Amendment right to protect the identities of their confidential sources, most states provide a “privilege” to that effect.

An amendment sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein says that there would be no legal protection for “any person or entity whose principal function ... is to publish source documents that have been disclosed to such person or entity without authorization.”

There is no such thing as THE PRESS in the sense that term is used by elitist Progressives today — some sort of elite group whose members are allowed preferential treatment under law. In the Constitutional sense, “the press” is a technological device for disseminating information.
One cannot be a “member” of the press. One can only have access to a press.
Any device which enables one to state and publicize one’s views is a “press,” whether it be moveable type, offset, TV, radio, or the Internet. We all have free access to “the press,” meaning we have the right to pay any provider who wishes to sell us access to publicize our ideas.
In this regard, no CBS anchor has anymore claim to special treatment for being part of “the press” than does any blogger.
“Freedom of the press” applies equally to every citizen seeking to use a technological device to record and publicize his or her opinion.
People who praise her are journalists, those who criticize here are not.
She wants to draw a line so she can stop the TRUTH about her and her scum-ass husband from continuing to be revealed.

While they are describing who is and isn’t a journalist— what will they describe an “eyewitness” to be or someone who has legitimately dug up the facts of her double dealing and governmental theft of federal property, or her deals with the Chinese military commissars on FIREARMS.
