In what was described as a murderous attack – and the most serious violence since the extremist group was elected to the country's parliament last year – about 50 men wielding crowbars and bats set upon leftists as they distributed posters in a working-class district of the capital late on Thursday. In a statement KKE, the Communist party of Greece, said: "The way in which they acted and the weapons employed … are evidence of the murderous nature of the attack. Among the Golden Dawners, some of whom had covered their faces or wore helmets or [party] shirts, were their leaders, well-known fascists and thugs." With the Communist party preparing to stage a youth festival in the coming days, Thursday's midnight assault comes amid mounting fears that the far right is trying to cultivate an atmosphere of civil war in Greece. Prominent members of the virulently anti-immigrant Golden Dawn have openly predicted that the debt-stricken country is heading towards civil war.

Basically the communist party was campaigning in an area where Golden Dawn has become popular, about 50 members of golden dawn descended on them and beat them without mercy, sending 9 to the hospital.
The communists held a riot/protest for the last 2 days in order to protest and have been attacked again by hundreds of golden dawn supporters in the street, It is apparently chaos as it is communists v fascists. Popcorn anyone?

I do not agree with the term Fascist being described as far-right. Fascists are leftists and the description is Marxist leftist media propaganda to demonize the right.

Anybody remember what kicked-off the problems in Greece? Someone in government saw a satellite photo of Athens and noticed a lot of homes with swimming pools. You have to pay a special tax to have a swimming pool there. Nobody was paying the tax. It takes a bit of money to build an in-ground swimming pool. Lots of government employees with swimming pools. The dirty little socialists had no problem grabbing money from other people for their salaries, but then, didn’t want to pay their own taxes. That’s how it always works.
All the conservatives and libertarians left Europe for America. That was why America became a superpower. And now that the statist euro weenies control DC, it is shrinking faster then Bill Clinton's ole wet cigar.
