Arab states call for international action against Syrian regime

President Barack Obama's surprise move to seek congressional authorization before ordering any military action against the Syrian regime was met with a mixed reception around the world Sunday, with a chorus of Arab states calling for intervention — while a key Syrian government official disparaged the White House for a lack of leadership.

At an Arab League meeting in Cairo on Sunday evening, foreign ministers passed a resolution pressing the United Nations and the global community to “take the deterrent and necessary measures against the culprits of this crime that the Syrian regime bears responsibility for,” according to Reuters.

The ministers also concluded that those responsible for the lethal chemical weapons attack should face trial just like other “war criminals.”

I agree we should stay out of it, and 90=% of Americans polled do, too. As for the scandals, they aren’t going away, even if they aren’t exactly dominating the MSM and the papers above the fold. This is a dog-wag, Clinton style.

The Arab states are quite fond of urging others to fight on their behalf. If going to war with Syria is such a driving need for them, the Arab Leage can form an international coalition to get the job done. I don’t buy into the crap that they “can’t.” If they want it badly enough, they’ll get it done.

In Libya, Obama said we had to act because our “partners” (mostly European) asked us to.

It would (I hope) be a much tougher sell to say that we must act because our partners in the Arab League have authorized it.

We should encourage the Arabs to annihilate each other and pour short range arms into the area after fencing it off.

Not a realistic solution, but a comforting fantasy...
