Not so many years ago, Americans could be heard snickering at our Canadian friends. “Socialists” was an epithet I heard muttered about Canadians and their political system.

That’s changed. Something electrifying has happened, a new dawn for Canadians. Nowadays, “wrong-way” Canada is beating the pants off the United States in the pursuit of economic freedom.

How did this happen? ...

It's ironic that all the socialist countries are going in the wrong direction economically and those countries trying to be like the US are moving forward. But this administration insists on doing everything it can to destroy the US.

Sad we've come to this.. And how many days have gone by without 0bama's final decision on XL Pipeline? Over 4 years and he's STILL voting 'present' on the pipeline. He's ENDED IT but won't admit it. I say BUILD THE DAMN THING ANYWAY, ALL THE WAY TO THE BORDER AND PUT IT ON HIM TO DISALLOW IT'S CONNECTION.

Isn’t Canada also moving away from single payer healthcare>??? And, allowing more privatization? (When we lived in Vancouver or maybe all doctors were going on strike....because the govt wasn’t paying them enough)

I pray you are right about Canada - my Mom was born there and I have a relatives there. However, with your Parliamentary form of Govt., it can turn on a dime. Harper is doing some good things that benefit Canadians and Canada, but he is still part of the NWO - Don’t Trust & Definitely Verify.

Obama AND the Republican party are destroying America.

How did Obama winn twice?

The conservatives refused to vote for either McCain, or Romney. Two of the worst candidate in a hundred years.

My brother in Toronto got the last laugh.

“I say BUILD THE DAMN THING ANYWAY, ALL THE WAY TO THE BORDER AND PUT IT ON HIM TO DISALLOW IT’S CONNECTION.”

Yes, that would be embarrassing for Obama. However, business and investment are all about allocating risk. Essentially this plan places all the millions of dollars at risk on the Canadian side. I, for one, would not take that risk. You can be assured that Obama will not, no matter how embarrassed, bend towards sanity. His declared war on coal is another example of Obama siding with idiot politics over the American interests and its economy.

That was then this is now. Don't Canadians have laws about what they can say and who they can criticize? Kind of lacking in freedom I'd say. I'm pretty sure Mark Steyn had something to say on that too, but I don't feel like googling it for you.

45 years ago in this country you could buy firearms through the mail without getting the govt's approval. not so now.

According to The Heritage Foundation, Canada ranks sixth in economic freedom, and the United States ranks ninth. We can’t criticize them too much.

I’m in SW Ontario at present.
In 3 more months I’ll have finished my purchase of 50 acres of undeveloped land about 30 minutes outside of Moncton NB.
I am thinking to stay here for probably 3 more years, working, paying off old debt and saving for ‘retirement’.

I have many ideas slowly developing and coming into focus,
some having to do with the land and others with plans to open a ‘store’ in Moncton.
I envision a book/video store/lending library that would focus on our western concepts
of freedom, individualism, self-reliance and accountability;
on their historical development and the current threats to them.
A place where like-minded individuals and the curious can come together to discuss ‘conservatism’
and how best to promote its principles in the individual, in society and in government.
A place to sit down and have a coffee and watch ‘conservative’ films
or listen to audio recordings of conservative icons.

My vision is still in its infancy, evolving and growing with time.
If I can develop a successful business model, then I’ll expand it to other locations.
If I can make it in Moncton, I can make it anywhere. :)

I don’t know if I will be successful,
I don’t know if the Good Lord will grant me the time needed,
but I do know my ‘retirement’ will be anything but boring
and I’ll hope to have done something, no matter how small, to advance Freedom.

In the meantime I’ve been testing the waters
with some of my ideas in a newly created FB page...
