Analysis: George Zimmerman Probably Won't Be Convicted of Murder or Manslaughter -- Here's Why
ABC ^ | 7/7/13

...Now that the prosecution's case against Zimmerman is in, as a legal matter, I just don't see how a jury convicts him of second degree murder or even manslaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

So what happened? How can an armed man who shot and killed an unarmed teen after being told by the police that he didn't need to keep following him, likely be found not guilty of those crimes?

I certainly sympathize with the anger and frustration of the Martin family and doubt that a jury will accept the entirety of George Zimmerman's account as credible. But based on the legal standard and evidence presented by prosecutors it is difficult to see how jurors find proof beyond a reasonable doubt that it wasn't self defense.

Prosecutors are at a distinct legal disadvantage.

...yes, prosecutors who have any intelligence know that the ONLY reason this case was brought to trial is because of the BIGOTS in the White House and in the "civil rights for profit" industry...which by the way has nothing to do with REAL civil rights....

Zimmerman has truth on his side, and he should NOT be convicted. Let's see if the jury agrees.

ABC News setting the nation up for riots. They have NO right to prejudge the case. What stupidity.

Prosecutors are at a distinct legal disadvantage.

Assuming, for the sake of argument, that is true, is that supposed to be a bad thing to whoever the brain trust is who wrote this?

Not trying to sound sexist, but the truth is there is an all woman jury.

Even other lawyers and legal experts have said on television and in print that this is a very unpredictable deliberative body.

The danger is that an all female jury will focus on the fact that a "mother lost her son" above all the other facts of the case.

I realized in 92 that the news media likes race riots.

It gets em ratings AND pushes their favorite narrative.

Juries are notorioiusly unpredictable.

The judge has been playing games and per a 2011 case is very biased AGAINST self defense.

Vila v. State, 74 So. 3d 1110, 1112 (Fla. 5th DCA 2011).
(Judge nelson reversed after she denied self defense jury instruction to defendant.)

Because "unarmed teen" toddler-in-swaddling-clothes Baby Tray-Tray didn't stay at home after arriving there, but instead went back, sucker-punched the armed man, and attempted to kill him with his own firearm, but apparently didn't learn how to do that in his bare-knuckle street-fighting training?

Wouldn’t put it past that judge to do something from the bench. I wouldn’t trust her to water plants.

I think he's just making excuses in advance why the case won't turn out like he wants it to. His basic defense is that second-degree murder is impossible to prove, thus Zimmerman will walk. Never mind the fact that these were the same idiots pushing for a murder charge from the beginning.

The bottom line here is that there isn't a single bit of evidence that backs up the prosecution's case. None. Zip. Nada. But instead of coming out and stating the obvious, the author says that Zimmerman is still probably lying about what happened, but poor Trayvon can't get any justice because our legal system is stacked against his dead ass.

"So what happened? How can an armed man who shot and killed an unarmed teen after being told by the police that he didn't need to keep following him, likely be found not guilty of those crimes?"

They all so conveniently pass right over Z's reply to the statement, "We don't need you to do that"

it is

"OK"

Here's a guy that has done everything for the previous years by the book ... going to school, volunteering for duty, performing in that duty, calling, calling, calling ...

And there is nothing ... NOTHING to indicate he did anything OTHER than stop following.

Maybe he didn't go back to his truck fast enough for your liking .. he stopped following.

I think he "tailed" him, maybe .. surveiled him ... .

IF Z stopped following and ultimately ended up in an altercation, st martin caused it.

The MSM set the stage for this fiasco by describing Zimmerman as a White Hispanic profiling a little Black kid with Skittles in his pocket.

If Zimmerman had set out from the beginning to shoot Martin (or cause him any harm), then he sure as hell wouldn’t have called the police first.

she is so blinded that she created reversible Error Friday over the THC issue when the ME changed his mind

Wonder what she thinks today after so many people have said she is in error.

The outright nastiness that came out july 3rd when discussing the Depo of Crump is because her decision was reversed by a higher court.
