The college was probably more concerned about the potential for false advertising lawsuits. After all, if an incoming student saw someone wearing a cross, they might (incorrectly) get the impression the college believed in truth and morality.

Liberals are at war with Christians, they do not want any symbol of morality present in their perceived Utopian hedonistic secular world. Muslims and atheists get a free pass, all because one is the philosophy of subjugation and conquest, and the other encourages endless perversion.
