Why is this news now? The current occupant of our White House is descended from the Africans who sold other Africans into slavery, and of much more recent descent.
As late as the 1920’s the Brits were still fighting small military engagements against organized slavers in Kenya.
For perspective, Obama’s father was born in 1936.
I'd wager that Obama is not more than ONE generation away from "NOTORIOUS" slave traders.
And slavery is STILL going on in 2013.

Bush's ancestor was selling slaves on the north coast of South America.
In the USA, at some point around 1800, the North and South states compromised on some issue, and the South agreed to stop importing slaves.
I can't recall the political issue or the date, and, after reading two Wiki articles, I still can't find the answer.
Oh how I hated white people for capturing Kunta Kinte with ropes, and watch him give up.
Turns out that NONE of that was true.
Why the hell slavers would waste time "capturing" slaves like flies in a net?
It made sense that the slavers were businessmen, just like the Africans that sold them. You're not going to go all traipsing around looking for "prey", when all you have to do is just PAY some African lord some $ to get what you want.
And African lords were more than happy to accept white man's $.

The British military was still fighting organized Kenyan slavers in the 1920’s.
Obama’s father was born in 1936.
Are you old enough to remember David Frost, the British actor and journalist who became the best in-depth TV interviewer of his generation?
Frost, who was a conventional Leftist, interviewed Alex Haley, the author of “Roots.”
Frost vigorously brought up the subject of Black African complicity in slavery.
Before that interview, not one white person I knew, including me, were aware of those facts.
By the way - can you remember who played the other slave captured with Kunte?
