CLicked the link on the above Freedom Post article about The Bridge, the author David Remnick (now it’s all coming back to my memory) was an editor at the NYT so anything in the book would absolutely need to be independently verified.
For what it´s worth:

Do you expect anything from snopes.com other than a weak attempt to spin the Obama narrative so as to “fill in the blanks” of the years of purported Columbia attendance. Wasn’t it snopes.com that first posted an alleged “Certification of Live Birth” to purportedly document Obama’s birth in Honolulu?
Here is a 2011 piece by Jack Cashill on WND relating to the issue of the Columbia years:
http://www.wnd.com/2011/04/283881/
“Im of the same era as hussein. We suddenly had a bunch of Iranians show up at our college. The profs were ordered to pass them no matter if they showed up or not. That did a job on the bell curve for the rest of us. Im sure the registrars office can show their enrollment and transcript but by and large, they were NOT on campus. Some might show up for class here and there but the reality of it was just a paper scam. Ive always thought this might be the same scam as the usurper.”
This sounds like the most likely answer for the discrepancies. Elsewhere I’ve heard it asked if he is or isn’t on the Columbia graduation program, but then a scan of that with his name on it was uploaded. So something like what you described seems like the best explanation, quite plausible when you consider he was raised in a Mohammedan country and allowed into Pakistan at a time when supposedly only Mohammedans were let in.
Well, those are some strong points in the Snopes piece. I wonder if Root has ever addressed them.
If I had the money of a Glenn Beck or Limbaugh I would have my own staff detective with a wad of cash to buy info from people in low places. Alas I am but a poor slob....
Oooops, just read your #196.
Please bear with me until I can shake what very well be a non-issue.
My attempt is to distinguish between the name O used in that era and the name current speakers use when referring to him several decades later. It has to do, of course, with the use of foreign student status.
I am on my way out, but will pursue the point in the next few days. The issue being, “What is there in the record that indicates O discarded the name Soetero and formally began to use the name Obama?”
All very strange to me.
Kristen Caldwell Frontline Interview
Excerpt:
So yeah, I can picture him as this slightly — “chubby” is too strong, but rounded, short little guy, Barry Obama. And he told us that his father was an Indonesian king and that he was a prince, and after he finished school he was going to go back, and he would be a ruler in Indonesia. And I absolutely believed him.
I understand that he told his fifth-grade class that he was Kenyan royalty, but I never heard that story until years later. My sister and I remember very clearly that he was an Indonesian prince and that he would be going back there. So there was some reference to where he had come from, and the understanding was his family was there.
I didn’t know who he lived with at the time. I since know that it was his grandparents. I knew where he lived, because a lot of times if it rained, my dad would give him a ride home from the tennis courts, because we would hang out after school. In the summers we’d hang out at the tennis courts; after school we would hang out at the tennis courts. That’s what we did. And that’s what Barry did pretty much from fifth through eighth grade. And I think after he leaned up and grew and got into basketball, he shifted away from tennis.
The Indonesian story and stuff, what was your take on that? What do you think he was doing? Why did he need to do that?
I can only imagine now, a 10-year-old leaving his mother and stepfather and at that point I think baby stepsister. So he lived in Hawaii from when he was born until he was 6, lived in Indonesia from 6 to 10. Arriving in Hawaii — again, having not been there — I would think he would have felt very, very fish-out-of-water, very uncomfortable, and like anybody, he’d have to have a little bit of bravado to mask the insecurities. So I think that was the prince story.
You did not read the original post that was pulled for the sake of the integrity of the site.
Stay out of it
Or maybe not. It would be fun to see a fight between student and professor over credibility.

That will make it a proxy war against Obama from foreign leaders.

Thanks for the link to the Cashill article. He is a superb researcher. No wonder Obama needs to spend 80 billion a yr on PRISM. He’s trying to collect dirt on people like Cashill, to shut them up.
Check your dates. There’s a picture of him in school in Hawaii in December 1969 with a kid named Scott in third grade.
He would have been a little over 8 years old in that photo.
Barack "Barry" Obama in 6th grade at Punahou.
Other than the 'enrollment' of Barry Soetoro in an Indonesian school in 1968 that uses the name Soetoro - there's no evidenc what-so-ever he was adopted or that his name was ever Soetoro. As the name Soebarkah was removed from SAD's passport in August 1968, and his name was shown as Barack Hussein Obama 11 at that time...why would we assume he was ever known as Soetoro?
He attended Punahou, according to the images above, as Barry Obama. Not as Soetoro. Although Lolo Soetoro and Stanley Ann Dunham-Soetoro filed joint tax returns IN HAWAII for 1973, only one child (Maya)was claimed as a dependant.
You can write to the person who was interviewed and tell her to check her dates.
In 1969 he wouldn’t have been at Punahou, he would have been at Iolani and she may not have known of him.
To the best of my knowledge his enrollment at Punahou commenced in Grade Five.
Snopes? Really? You can always trust them. LOL!
Shame for posting anything from snopes.
Permanently unavailable and never leakable, because they don't exist. The "ultimate 'seal.'"
The guaranteed abuse of the absurd "privacy" fetish (promoted by the enemies of the Republic) is among our enemies' most powerful weapons.
What do you expect from snopes?
