You know we don’t need any lakes that big. We have piece of the Atlantic Ocean, you may have heard of it. The Gulf of Mexico. You can get 300 miles from shore in it. You can fish in it, boat on it, and even surf.. sometimes. It never gets quite so calm as Gitichigoomee. But the surfing makes up for that.

It is pretty shallow near shore and the shorelines are not steep, at least in Texas, but pretty much all around it. But it does get pretty deep in the middle. Deep enough that German subs would hide there during the daytime, in the early days of WWII. They’d move closer to shore to find targets, which was easy because most of ‘em would be going to/coming from Galveston or Corpus in Texas. The oil tankers and grain haulers at least.

Not only that, but we can boat on the Gulf Coast year round.

Cept your shoreline stinks (literally, and yes, I've been there quite a few times), the surf sucks for a real, you know....surfer.......who actually knows what real surfing is like, the fishing is okay, but ours is better, your boating might be decent, but ours is far superior, our swimming is wonderful, you don't come out salty and needing a shower (and sort of smelly), (subs have been in the great lakes, but not from Germany, so I'll give you that one), we have ZERO shark attacks in every year, and our shoreline is ten times prettier.

Other than that, your place might be okay....

:-)
