And so begins our annual 8th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot. We are having a great time!

The Mom and crew are busy with family who stopped into town to attend the shoot and visit, so she asked me to get the thread started.

Look for comments and pictures over the next several days!

From here you'd hardly see the boat, and surely not the mermaids.......

Great view there on the Missouri. Yes, we visited the North Carolina a few years ago when we were vacationing near Wilmington. It’s likely we’ll go there again later this year.

That first pic was my (yes, very pretty) wife and DIL about six miles in to Lake Michigan, the Manitou Islands are in the background. We go out there in windless weather, I call them "boat days". Hard to get closer to paradise than out there on those days. Miles of clear water, very few other boats, you can explore the islands landing in their bays, or go along the Michigan shoreline checking out the dunes. It's awesome, here you go, the Sleeping Bear Dune, 450 feet high.

When the gales come, it can be terrifying to watch. That's a very haunting song. I never understood the power of the lakes until long after the song was out. I was an ocean brat until I got married and moved to the Midwest. I remember the first time I stepped on to the shores of Lake Michigan, turning and saying, "That's NOT a lake."

It was nothing I'd ever seen before, an inland sea, you couldn't see the other side. It was huge.

I remember watching this when it first came out in 1996, we taped it on VHS (remember those!?!?)

I was just a kids, but I understood what had happened in 1975 :(

Evenin’, Lady. Thank you for the sweet compliment. Yep, I’ll be bringing the brood with me. Thankfully, this year’s Shoot is in the county where we live, so it’s doable for us. It’ll be good to finally meet you and so many other FRiends.

I got a whole bunch of hats, but I don't know if you'd want to wear 'em. Most of them have been well 'seasoned' by the Texas sun :-)

Maybe I can help the wife whip up a batch of hat shaped cookies. That'd probably work.
