We were there on a stopover. Went through Annapolis. Spent a few days there. Were wondering about living there.

Place gave me the creeps.

It’s a great place for what it offers historically, pre auto streets, the Carroll museum and the Naval Academy.

It’s a very old seaport. Wonderful

Right in the center of town, on the most prime real estate- top twenty in the country perhaps, is a beautiful contemporary building maybe 4 stories high. Gilded lettering. The Maryland Dept of Education building.

No no no.

I did not want anyone with that kind of greed and sense of entitlement pretending they would be in charge of my kids.

It was so much power. Like a live snake in the living room.

We high tailed it outta there after some good shopping and crab cakes and a visit to the O’Club.

Now when I see a story like this, and I see it’s from Maryland, I just think about how powerful they think they are over their subjects and how their subjects allow it.

Ca Reepy.

I spent a few months in Maryland on a contract job before my present job. Spiritually bothersome stuff there... yeah. But I did join spiritual forces briefly with a Baptist church in Hagerstown. At once it appeared to be unusual since it was about 1/3 black people, with a white preacher who preached a conservative Protestant gospel. Normally that kind of a situation in liberal-land is about as stable as cats and dogs. They had Good Stuff going on at that church. Then the Lord called me to the Nashville area where there is even Better Stuff going on. The Lord is powerful here.

I lived near there and worked in Annapolis and surrounding communities for 10 years. One of Maryland’s nicknames is “the land of pleasant living”, and it really is nice. Annapolis is full of fun people, great watering holes, nice restaurants, and boats. Deer hunting in the area is great and access is surprisingly easy. Fishing in the Chesapeake Bay was also good (although it’s declining along with the decline in water quality). Wages in the area are high, relative to many parts of the country, and it isn’t hard to find a lucrative job there. There are 4 distinct seasons, with autumn colors that rival anything you’d see in New England.

The only downside, as you noticed, is the political class there. The legislature is full of Darth Vaders and Count Dukus, and they have gerrymandered themselves into a perpetual stranglehold on the state.
