A busload of nuns will be road warriors for the next three weeks as they take their campaign to achieve comprehensive immigration reform on the road.
Nuns on the Bus, a project of the national Catholic social justice lobby Network, kicked off their 40-city, 6,500-mile bus ride at Liberty State Park in Jersey City this morning. The tour ends at San Francisco's Angel Island, the Ellis Island of the west coast.
Sister Simone Campbell of Washington, D.C., one of the leaders of the group, said the immigration project has "taken on a life of its own." Last year, the group engaged in a bus tour that was focused on raising the public's consciousness about poverty.
"It's important to cast light on the 11 million people living in the shadows because they're undocumented," said Sister Arlene Flaherty about this year's road trip.

Any ‘nun’ that does public protest looks more like a dike than a woman.
I wanted to give them a TINY bit of the benefit, they ARE claiming to be nuns.
I never knew nuns could be so lacking in wisdom. They are not serving God’s interests when they attempt to swell the ranks of the Democratic party with millions of new voters. It seems righteous on the surface but when you look deeper into the matter, it is anything but.
I believe that we should engage in extradition reform. And we Catholics will continue to pound on the Church and on the Vatican to rid us of these unholy individuals.

I don’t remember any nuns ever getting involved in political issues prior to Vatican II.
Many women religious orders were the first to lose their orthodoxy in the 60's. There are some excellent articles describing the carnage caused by the wave of socialist, lesbian 'Nuns'.
This road trip is no surprise, but, as a Catholic, it saddens me.
When these social justice nuns finally get their way and they finally completely hand all power over to the communists and islamics ...
