Posted on 05/20/2013 12:46:11 PM PDT by dirtboy
Tornado warnings up in Oklahoma. Watches in TX, OK, KS, MO, far NW Arkansas.
Those schools don’t have bunkers?
I would have thought after 99 they would.
Based on the track of these storms, today is NOT the day to “get you’re kicks on route 66”, not in OK. Prayers up for the people in Oklahoma.
I heard that too, but I think its hyperbole based on the immediate situation. There was a storm in Kansas a couple of years ago that completely demolished a town, the one in Joplin Missouri that was an F-5, and last years Tuscaloosa Alabama storm.
Worse than Joplin tornado ?
Praise God. Sending prayers for all affected in what surely must be chaos.
So glad to hear your news ... and now we keep praying!
KFOR indicates at least 3 tornadoes on the ground.
Thank GOD. I’m so relieved for you.
“My structure held up to Ike, Im not terribly worried.”
Mine withstood Ike but Ike wasn’t a 4 or 5 tornado like this tornado. This is severe.
So glad to hear LUV. Been praying hard for your family.
CH 9 reporting multiple fatalities in Moore
I think he is talking about the dollar amount of property damage...we’ll see if he’s right.
There also was a tornado in Bangladesh in the 1800s that killed over 1,000 people...
Thank you. Have only gotten the one e-mail from her. Nothing else.
Thank you all for your prayers. I am praying for the ones who were hit and impacted by the monster storm.
My MIL is in Yukon...I haven’t heard whether there was a tornado in Yukon...west OKC
Based on the carnage visible from the helo broadcast, there could be a huge number of casualties.
The number will probably go up. So many homes are just gone.
I said I was sorry.
The only good thing here is plenty of daylight fremains for rescue and recovery ops.
The tornado was pretty far from Yukon. No damage there.
I need to buy you a beer sometime.
Do you text? When voice won’t work, text does sometimes. Try texting.
2 miles west of Meeker, OK. Smaller tornado on the ground.
Also depending on the house, kids are safer in school...”
School administration and the kids are so used to these drills and they do go to what would be considered the safest internal area. Much safer than being in most homes unless they have underground shelters. The other benefit of having the kids at school is that parents can then deal with their own safety and maybe just small ones yet at home.
The intensity of all of the tornados this year over last year do make me worry about what our upcoming hurricane season will bring. Last year we had nary a one. So many more people in the Texas gulf area now, most have never been through a hurricane and are so ill prepared.
Prayers up for all those wonderful Okies. God watch over you all.
I’ve got to head out, back about 8pm
Many trapped under debris in the Moore area.
Police warn people to stay out of the area until they can clear powerlines, etc.
What’s this ? pile on time ? why don’t you burn me at the stake....
Are you okay in Fort Worth right now? I see radar is down to Fort Worth and a little below Fort Worth. Please answer. These in Oklahoma are destroying everything.
I didn’t say I was gonna steal your beer to give to Humblegunner ;)
I’m surprised they don’t have better info on the schools.
Cell phones must be disrupted.
“We are fine.”
Thank God you got that email and thank God your family is okay.
They just interviewed someone named Lance, who broke down in tears when describing the devastation. I can only imagine how distressed people there must be.
Reporter on local news in tears. .sobbing at the school. .sounds awful.
Thank you. Good to know. That tornado is still on the ground. God help Oklahoma.
Got a 2nd e-mail...”We are all o.k. We are VERY LUCKY. It was incredibly close. Bryant and 104th (just one of the tornadoes). The very next major intersection just south of us! House is fine all of our belongings are fine. We are FINE! Praise Jesus.”
At the moment the tornado genesis parameters aren’t nearly as high in Texas as they are in Oklahoma.
You did the right thing by apologizing.
Congressman on CNN calls this an “unusual occurrence”
Tornados in Oklahoma are NOT unusual.
I did try, but haven’t gotten a text. Did get a 2nd e-mail...post #234
CNN says no underground shelter at school so that doesn’t sound very promising based on the video.
New tornado just formed north of Meeker, growing.
I’m not condemning you. I’ll buy you a beer, too.
Yes, it takes more guts to apologize.
Are they in Moore Luv?
You’re in my prayers. Stay safe.
Didn’t get his name. He represents the area.
Quick search turns up Tom Cole, R, OK
Maybe he meant that this is an unusually severe storm? It sounds as if it is, and it may not be over.
