Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III on Tuesday complained about the tyranny of political correctness currently holding Americans hostage. His comments, posted on his official Twitter account, come as some people are demanding the Redskins change their team name because of its racist meaning.
In a land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness, Griffin tweeted. The comment may seem innocent, but it was enough to send the left into a frenzy, as noted on Twitchy.
Several of the criticisms hurled at Griffin seemingly accuse the QB of not knowing the definition of tyranny. Because they failed to understand the meaning behind his words, Griffin later felt compelled to explain to outraged Twitter users that tyranny has more than one meaning. He also followed up with a fitting quote following the angry response to his tweet: If we speak..we say it the wrong way If we do not speak we are cowards .
All that being said, Griffin also found a lot of support from other Twitter users.

Dang! I was hoping to adopt him. Or, have him adopt me.
As an longtime “fanatic” of the Dallas Cowboys, I understand your pain...
...but(SSssssssh ) ...the more I hear about him, the more I like him, too. SSssssssh )
Sounds like fun to me.
Sounds like RGIII just read Jonah Goldberg’s book The Tyranny of Cliches - How the Left cheats in the war of ideas.
Great book as was Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism which still has the distinction of best book cover ever.
I’m sorry, I was overtaken by a fit of political correctness and not wanting to offend. In colloquial conversation with my kids, we refer to Indians as Indians or American Indians as contrasted with Asian Indians. Nonetheless, I think Redskins is a good team name, obviously what the name is attempting to convey.
He was a likeable player before these comments. I hope he has a long career.
This guy can play for me anytime!
That quote nails it.
Will Obama call him? No. Too busy calling Jason Collins.
Perhaps Obama was asking for a date.
Good for you, RG3. Skol from Viking Country.
RGIII- “military brat”. graduated HS a year early. Entered college at 17. BA political science. One year toward masters. An athlete with a brain
That ratty lookin’ hairdo aside, I knew I liked that kid!
Most poli-sci profs are flaming Marxists- how did he manage to avoid the indoctrination?
I think it was the Roanoke expedition, lead by John White, who came up with the name. The local indians painted themselves red ocre, so it was not really about their skins tones. Sp the RedSkins adorn themselves in red uniforms, which are a king of second skin.
The military influence.
Good for RGIII.
