Sure, but there are people who were criminally negligent for allowing the situation to develop and ignoring it.

People died as a result. Hundreds are now homeless and the company will probably shutdown to avoid the legal liability.

So the taxpayers will end up footing the bill and more govt regulations will be added. All because some idiots didn’t do their job.

HIPAA exists because the healthcare industry wouldn’t spend the money to protect patient data.

Protecting patient data? LOL! All your medical information is going into a government data bank now in preparation for Obamacare. So how did that work out?

The medical professional has always operated under confidentiality as well as the insurance industry. HIPAA's primary goal was to allow terminated employees with insurance coverage and pre-existing conditions to obtain coverage under a new employer without discrimination as long as the terminated employee had no lapse in coverage or failed to maintain it under COBRA.

The privacy part was merely secondary to the original intent.........

No one thought 270 tons of ammonium nitrate could blow up?? Seriously?

Wrong, have you actually read HIPAA? I deal with hospitals who pretend that little disclosure form is all they need to do every single day.

Not debating the history. I’m saying quite a few people were criminally negligent to allow it to develop into the state it was in when the plant blew up.

People from the town and the company should go to jail for manslaughter.

You questioned why we were being attacked.

Attacks are intentional.

Who do you believe planned and carried out the attack on West, Texas?

If there were any regulations about it then it was a violation of them either way. It really doesn’t matter which was there first.

Good question; doesn’t excuse the plant operators from their actions.

Their actions? Exactly what actions are you referring to?

You do know don't you that the primary chemical in fertilizers is ammonium nitrate? This article is nothing but bullshit to claim that the plant held 270 tons of it without reporting it to the government. Sheesh!

Read it? I had to deal with it as a benefits manager for my corporation............I'm fully aware of what it says, what it does and most importantly, why it came into existance. And ultimately, it was due to a govt. response to a non existing crisis within the health insurance industry. In other words, it was all bullshit just as COBRA was.........

"anhydrous ammonia is the same as ammonium nitrate"...

Beg to differ...apparently it is not! According to the ever-reliable Wiki:

The processes involved in the production of ammonium nitrate in industry, although chemically simple, are technologically challenging. The acid-base reaction of ammonia with nitric acid gives a solution of ammonium nitrate:[13] HNO3(aq) + NH3(l) → NH4NO3(aq) For industrial production, this is done using anhydrous ammonia gas and concentrated nitric acid. This reaction is violent and very exothermic.

It seems that anhydous ammonia needs to be mixed with nitric acid to produce the highly volatile (under certain conditions?) ammonium nitrate...and that's not to say that anhydrous ammonia by itself isn't also dangerous under certain circumstances.

I would agree whole-heartedly that anyone dealing with any of these chemical compounds needs to know what they're doing, regardless of government oversight. A former neighbor of ours blew himself up trying to make his own "super fertilizer"...he wasn't a terrorist, just a "do-it-yourself" gardening idiot, may he rest in peace.

KMA The plant operators and towns people who allowed homes to be built there have killed and injured hundreds of people.

The ammonium nitrate and the anhydrous ammonia should never have been stored in close proximity to so many people.

The reporting requirement is only there in an attempt to force these plants to do what they historically have shown they won’t do without big govt watching over their shoulder. Its assholes like them that give the big govt weenies a reason to get into everyones business.

nitrogen, and hydrogen, but it’s made with water..it’s a compound...you make it.....or better said...”They make it”.

Should have used the term, gas...errr...liquid....err...gas.....with the “water” removed....commonly called anhydrous ammonia, not typical use ammonia, but like I said...I’m not a chemist...and that is likely not correct either....perhaps you want to explain to me just how it is ....err...pressurized.......we can spend a month on that little bugger...

The truth of it is that it is not .....errr....pressurized but creates it’s own pressure to remain liquid. just a bit over atmospheric.. It only has to be sealed up in a container. It is highly concentrated with the water removed and easy to transport in glass lined vessels. It also turns to liquid at low temperatures at atmospheric pressure, But I did not want to get into all that on this forum as it was not needed. I thought that everyone on the planet would understand what I said. I even used the fact that I am not a chemist to prevent the very argument that you are continuing in a rather nauseating way..

So you call it what you please, and I will know what you mean. If their is anything I spelled wrong, or perhaps used a grammar error....you may now let me know about that as well....

When we finish this exchange...we will have accomplished something, I suppose.......but I’m not sure what it is...

Maybe it’s just par for the course on this forum....have a nice day......

We have not succeeded in answering all of your questions.

Indeed, the answers we have found only serve to raise a whole new set of questions.

In many ways we as as confused as ever, but we would like to think that we are confuse on a higher plain, and about more important things...

You are right. They are intentional. It has been mentioned the DHS had equipment in the area before the explosion there. Your guess is as good as mine.

Healthy confusion is only temporary..

If it is not....you will never know it, and you will not believe others who say you are confused....

Today....this is considered to be normal....:-)
