The Government or the media. Which is worse? Which is more corrupt, dishonest and untrustworthy? Think about the agendas they both have and give us an answer.

That’s true. And unfortunately “I don’t know - I don’t care - I have no opinion” seems to be the popular answer around here.

Pity. It was a simple mental exercise. I guess most people aren’t up to the task.

If it makes you feel better to keep saying that over and over, go for it. LOL

The 4th estate IS a 5th column in the regime’s war AGAINST the people of the United States of America.

There's almost a spot of poetry here:

The One leads his forces:
The Two Prongs of the Third Reich;
The Fourth Estate,
which is the Fifth Column.

Let's go even further.

I agree with other posters that we can vote out politicians, but not journalists.

The 1st amendment gives the people the right to a free press, it doesn't give the NYT or NBC the right to exist in perpetuity. We try to strangle them by refusing to buy their products, but the likes of George Soros will fund them at a financial loss just to keep the megaphone alive.

So, if I had to land on one side of the coin, it would be the media, because they are fearless in their invincibility.

Good idea. I will.

The government.

As other FReepers have said; only the government has the power to tax you, jail you, restrict you, unConstitutionally take away your rights and freedoms, even KILL you and get away with it.

Of all the misery and of all the evils in this country, in every country, and through out all time - an evil corrupt government has been the back-bone of it all.

The media only wishes it had 1/10 of the absolute power the gubmint has.

Basically you are asking what is more powerful? The pen or the sword? I say the pen.

Why is it that the first thing a dictator does is take over the Department of Information or Interior? Because ideas are stronger than tanks. Governments rise and fall. The power of philosophy and propaganda is ever present. Rousseau was more dangerous than Napoleon ever was. The USSR fell without a shot.

When the media sides with the government it is no different than when a dictator controls the media. The media is supposed to be the fulcrum. But when the media becomes the propaganda then all balance is lost. Words so easily rouse the ill-informed masses.

The government can take my gun, but never my freedom. Solzhenitsyn said he felt more free in the Gulag than his captors. The media silences and subverts a whole culture with political correctness.

America has changed because of words like equality, justice, and the most powerful word of all - Fairness.

The Pen has changed America not tanks in the streets.
And it is the Pen that writes the laws.

The Media.

Politicians have been corrupt since the beginning of time.

Freedom of the press was written into the constitution to keep the politicians honest.

The reason things have gotten this bad is the press is complicit in corruption.
