Obama's proposal will help improve the financial stability of Medicare by reducing taxpayer subsidies for retirees who can afford to pay a bigger share of costs. Congressional Republicans agree with the president on this one, making it highly likely the idea will become law if there's a budget deal this year.

Currently only about 1 in 20 Medicare beneficiaries pays the higher income-based premiums, which start at incomes over $85,000 for individuals and $170,000 for couples. As a reference point, the median or midpoint U.S. household income is about $53,000.

The administration is proposing to extend a freeze on the income brackets at which seniors are liable for the higher premiums until 1 in 4 retirees has to pay. It wouldn't be the top 5 percent anymore, but the top 25 percent.

Obama's "Medicare Cuts" really mean increased Medicare premiums. Looks like the Republicans are going to agree with Obama on increasing income based Medicare premiums to help fund ObamaCare.

Medicare is the biggest unfunded budget buster ahead as boomers retire. The current rate of cost growth simply cannot be sustained.

Something must be done; the only question is what....

Obama cannot produce Jobs for the under 65 crowd so now he needs to take from the very Citizens have done well and are trying to finally have that dream of retirement with out
Financial Drain! The very ones that took care of the older generation when needed! Obama never thinks about what he does financially to people, why because he never felt bad times and never will. This POTUS if you can call him that is sucking the financial life out of every citizen. I hope all the Obamanites are happy with the demise of the country! They voted for it!

The media can’t censor the bad effects of this gubmint/socialist/health care nightmare. Our Blue Cross
went up 30% in March. Met with accountant for April 15th and
he pointed out the new tax traps coming. Wake up LIV nation.

Whining won’t do any good. Time to go on offense. How?
First, quit watching any lib media at all. Choke them out
with their advertisers.

Liberals will gladly sacrifice more if the “rich” get hammered. That’s how obsessed they are. Of course, they don’t consider any of their heroes to be rich.

Of course it will hit the normal hard-working people. That was the original intention.

Indeed we are talking about a population driven by hateful envy and anti-economic freedom propaganda.

This could be used against them if we should so desire, or require.

It will turn medicare into yet anther openly practicing wealth redistribution program. What it will not do is address the economic market problems Medicare creates, and therefore stop the out of control cost growth.

the best advice is to try to stay healthy...see if you can pay a discount for any health care if you pay in cash....utilize any clinics open for the "poor" or working poor....often your cost is on a sliding scale...

read up on health foods and supplements....I'm becoming a bigger believer in cinnamon and yogurt....

The House should use any bill Obama supports as toilet paper.
