Ellsworth Grounds Bombers Due To Sequestration

BOX ELDER, SD - The B-1 Bombers at Ellsworth Air Force Base won't be flying anytime soon.

"Our local combat squadron, the 37th combat squadron will not fly between now, and right now we're planning until October first," 28th Bomb Wing Colonel Kevin Kennedy said.

Because of sequestration the military is coping with close to $500 billion in cuts to its budget over the next decade. The groundings will help Air Combat Command cut a total of 45 thousand flight hours across the board.

"Bottom line, though, this is something that we need to do to make sure we're ready for the fight down range," Kennedy said.

B-1's from Ellsworth's 34th Bomb Squadron are currently deployed overseas and are not affected by the grounding, yet.

"The 34th will maintain their combat readiness as they continue to fight. But when they come home they will enter into the same status as the 37th," Kennedy said...

He’ll have to. Don’t worry about the longterm. Worry about the next 20 years.

Obviously this is intentional to weaken us.

You are on target!

Pressler’s “brilliant idea” left me convinced of progressive brain damage (pun intended).

Do not know about Dyess.

And I figure that even if West River was entirely Democrat we would still be seeing the Ellsworth nonsense, as destroying our armed forces is a holy grail to them.

Remember, Democrats have pushed the invalid “guns vs. butter” premise on us for generations. Truth is, you must have safety to produce. And that means guns are required to have butter.

Democrats will never understand what is necessary to maintain freedom...partially because they do not understand freedom.

Worry about the next 20 years.

If we make it that far. Right now it looks like global financial collapse leading to WWIII. And America is destroying its economy, financial system, and armed forces right now.

“Do you know if Dyess is suffering the same fate?”

According to the new Col/Commander of the 28th Bomb Wing, Dyess is still flying, however, none of their Squadrons are deployed, one of Ellsworth’s is.

Sorry for the long delay, had a funeral, and a gun show this afternoon.

Regards Mr RR’s statement about Democrats, I’ve heard that before by a Republican, not sure of his persuasion, but I would like to understand the thought.

If this action, or any other, is any danger to our military defense, should the Secretary of Defense say so - and loudly?

Of course, he should. But you reckon without the current Secretary of Defense, the Honorable Chuck Hagel.

Hagel would happily preside over the dismantling of our military establishment -- whether because he favored it or because he's too stupid to notice it is open to question.

Why precisely does the military think it’s a good idea to announce its level of operations to America’s enemies?

Because the Pentagon has already announced it, officially and publicly.

A total of 17 squadrons will be chained to the hangars until November rolls around.

Big crowd at the gun show. We were there too. Prices seemed really high, especially for the ammo.

One of the few gun shows I didn’t buy anything. As you said, prices are high thanks to the best gun salesman ever to occupy the White House and his lackey’s in the Congress.

Yes. The oath of office is to protect and defend the Constitution. The only honorable options are to speak out or resign.
