Ellsworth Grounds Bombers Due To Sequestration

BOX ELDER, SD - The B-1 Bombers at Ellsworth Air Force Base won't be flying anytime soon.

"Our local combat squadron, the 37th combat squadron will not fly between now, and right now we're planning until October first," 28th Bomb Wing Colonel Kevin Kennedy said.

Because of sequestration the military is coping with close to $500 billion in cuts to its budget over the next decade. The groundings will help Air Combat Command cut a total of 45 thousand flight hours across the board.

"Bottom line, though, this is something that we need to do to make sure we're ready for the fight down range," Kennedy said.

B-1's from Ellsworth's 34th Bomb Squadron are currently deployed overseas and are not affected by the grounding, yet.

"The 34th will maintain their combat readiness as they continue to fight. But when they come home they will enter into the same status as the 37th," Kennedy said...

It’s getting closer and closer to the time when WE THE PEOPLE MUST take back our gubmint, one way or the other.

The Washington politicians (that means both sides) have abandoned the very same American people who put them there and it’s about damn time we removed them.

I am curious what social programs have been cut?

You probably won’t because in the words of my very own Senator and Congresswoman, they are on autopilot, no pun intended. Meaning they are law and to change them means law must be changed. Any other reasons to be suspicious of “law”. A bit too much “law” going on I would say.

But a real President, not an Usurper, would cancel all his golf outings, family vacations, and any other personal frivolities to ensure Americans could see “The People’s House”.

Obviously your thought process and that of the Usurper differ on that point, but I agree with you.

Thanks for the ping, saw this in the paper and my first thought was, Hmmm, wonder how much certifying the simulator is capable of? Number two was look out, when flyers don’t there are safety issues, which I’m sure will be addressed in increased time in the simulator. The bottom line for me is the need to send people to a war zone thousands of miles away to get all of their actual “flying time”.

Of course, I don’t have any strong opinions on the matter.

Are your pants on fire?

More like the fruits - period.

The mil has just as much money as it did in the previous years, plus the 2013 increases (where the minuscule cut in the rate of increase occurs).

Groundings are simply a show for the public that an overall 2 percent decrease in the rate of increase is untenable - going to prove that any cuts to the federal budget are impossible. Therefore, the federal budget can only be increased.

This country is not going to survive 3 more years of this evil man. He and his minions (including the R team) are unleashing one horror after another on citizens, the law-abiding and the trying-to-be productive. Look at the damage he’s done within months of his new term, besides all that of his previous term. But in the new term, he’s really ramped it up. There is no way the country can survive 3 more years of it. Either this country is destroyed for good, or something’s got to pop.

And they get to blame the Republicans for it.

"...The sequestor was to HURT military and social programs..."

This whole thing has nothing to do with saving money. What they are working towards is a 2.5% decrease in the INCREASE in spending. I am certain it is being done on the backs of the military.

This is all about punishment and politics.

Just part of the plan on the part of liberals.

And you can bet money that "someone* is saying "We need to use this down time to catch up on training. Here are the new outlines for gay sensitivity training and "open discussion sessions" for a woman's new place in combat roles..."

What makes me madder than hell is that the libs are just as happy as could be. They know none of this will stick to them, because their friends in the media will make it so.

They gleefully watch the military atrophy, and note with satisfaction the further erosion of our industrial base, while increasing benefits of all kinds towards their own constituencies.

I think of all the times I have seen and heard a piece of crap liberal say "We are just as supportive of the military as any of you are..." and it makes my blood boil.

Watched Red Dawn again yesterday. Got me thinking about what would happen if a small group of terrorists hell bent on some kind of kamikazi mission took over a coastal town, like where I live. Decided to spend some time loading up the magazines.

Meanwhile, I see why the lib/fags are so against the Boy Scouts (figuratively). Their motto is be prepared. This place’s motto has moved beyond that now to be unprepared.

But I am happy to see that POS and his minions continue to pound on the older folk, now we are moving up the co pays on part B medicare while reducing the levels these additional fees kick in. I guess he missed that little message about not screwing with old people as they have nothing to lose.

I heard Rush trying to explain that to a caller the other day, and he (the caller) had to be the dumbest poster at DU.

As I understand it, all them exact people involved are still in the Air Force, maintianng all the exact same equipment, and getting paid the exact same amount...

Where are the costs being cut? Because they sit there instead of doing something it saves money?

Oh, and there was no actrual CUTS, it is just a smaller increase

Why precisely does the military think it’s a good idea to announce its level of operations to America’s enemies?

Give military contractors and their daughters in civil service positions more federal funding, or they’ll reveal to our foreign enemies that B-1s in general continue to be active (despite contrary reports to the American populace) along with the locations of the B-1s and promises that the B-1s will be grounded.

There’s no talk about cutting civilian regulatory or anti-family offices, so their relatives must be running those, too. It’s interesting, watching how the bipartisan political/regulator class works.

Yes. By grounding the aircraft the traitors have stealthily eliminated the mission. No mission. No base.
