N. Korea Threatens Nuclear Strike On Tokyo In Event Of War, Or If Japan Downs Test Missile
RT News ^ | April 12, 2013

Posted on 04/12/2013 4:01:54 AM PDT by Fennie

Pyongyang warned that Tokyo would be its primary target if war broke out on the Korean Peninsula, if Japan maintains its "hostile posture." It also threatened a nuclear strike against the island nation if it intercepts any North Korean test missiles.

In the comments, carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Friday, Pyongyang lambasted Tokyo's standing orders to shoot down any North Korean missile heading towards Japan, Seoul-based Yonhap news agency reports.

As the relationship between Japan and the US has become unreliable, Japan needs its own nuclear deterrent. So does South Korea and Taiwan. I’d be very surprised if they aren’t working on it right now.

You’re right. Only weak people feel the need to threaten, it is as much for their own resolve as it is to scare or warn others. The strong just know they are ready.

This is what nuclear blackmail looks like.

Expect more of the same. When Iran gets the bomb, there will be hell to pay.

Japan wants US troops and the American footprint off its soil, yet wants a continued US umbrella to protect against nasty folks in the neighborhood.
They can’t have it both ways...

Knowing the Japanese and their love and prowess with technology they may have started a program of a more efficient explosive device, such as a plasma bomb, no radiation, leaves basically nothing but plasma gas.

Or by the time you finish reading this post. They probably have all the components built, tested and sitting no further than 6" apart from each other awaiting assembly, and has probably been the case for decades.

I was thinking similar thoughts about 'pants wetting', but it wasn't Kim who came to mind. The world (unfortunately) knows quite well who wears the 'mom jeans'.

Kim seems to forget that Japan has the Standard SM-3 and SM-6 ABM missiles. The SM-3 went 5 for 5 in actual firings, including bringing down a decaying orbiting satellite. The JMSDF would shoot his missiles down and then the NorKs would get a real wake up call.

Also, sanctions can be carried too far.We should have ended this long ago. When people suffer long enough, they become desperate, whether it is the result of an oppressive dictatorship, starvation. We are going to find this out as well. I am 62 years old and would love to live another 25 years. If this nation doesn’t reverse it’s course, I probably will not live that long. And if it doesn’t reverse it’s course, I probably will change my mind, and not want to live that long. I don’t want to have to see my children live under what is coming.

“I suspect the Japanese could produce a native nuclear weapon within 30 days of the go order.”

I suspect that they’re more likely just to go public with the fact that they’ve secretly had nukes for several years now. Not that I know that they have nukes, it’s just that I can’t imagine Japan NOT having nukes somewhere.

Lets see. North Korea blusters about sending nukes flying, then claims it has a right to nuke Japan if it downs a test missile.

So just exactly how it Japan to know if a missile is a test missile or the real thing?

Japan is in a no-win situation. A preemptive strike would thus seem justified.

A pre-emptive strike FROM ANY country against NK would be justifiable by now. In a sane world that is.

Apparently you can threaten your neighbors and the world with nuclear war, and get away with it. It’s like pointing a loaded gun at a cop and pulling back the hammer. At that point YOU DESERVE TO BE SHOT!

Wow. After watching you for years informing this board about the NORKS and their huge artillery installations next to Seoul, I'm a little surprised that you are ready for a devastating war.

But then if our US leaders had the gumption to authorize a first strike, NORKS would no longer threaten east asia. We both know that won't happen. As I've said on other threads, I care nothing about collateral damage. Kill them all as we did with the German Nazis, Italian Facists, and Imperial Japan. They learned their lesson - it's time to show others.

At this point, if this were a credible threat, I’d be inclined to suspect there might be weapons already planted in Tokyo. That solves the transportation problem, then it just remains to be seen whether or not they actually work.

Seems like we’re nearing the “call the bluff” moment.
