With all due respect, we had a choice of Rubio vs. Crist. Rightfully, Rubio did not go into details about his view of any immigration policy but did give us insights as to what his personal inclinations were.
He remains emphatic that completed border security is the only starting point for any policy to enact any other policies or laws on what to do with those who are in this country illegally. He kinda woke up ole Schmuckie last weekend, now didn’t he?
So, with that what would have been your choice?
I was talking about NOW not then. I realize that all elections are not-so-pretty trade offs. Many here voted for Romney because the alternative was Obama.
NOW Rubio is jumping forward on amnesty (path to full citizenship) to gain creds with Hispanics and provide ‘conservative Tea party’cover for GOP to vote for it.
In his dealing with HIS buddies Schumer and McCain and Grahamnesty and Durbin and Robert Menendez only one side made a concession before the talks started, Rubio agreed to path to citizenship meaning giving illegals the same vote we have.
The Center for Immigration Studies has had several blog posts on that.
In my opinion, Rubio was and remains committed to Amnesty.
Anyone who reads the history of Reagan's 1986 Amnesty understands that every “protection” Rubio claims he wants will be overturned in court or will be simply unenforced.
As to “waking up” Schumer with a demand for public hearings, that is completely backwards.
Rubio is the one who is “waking up” to the fact that 75% of the Republican Party will walk away from him if he supports the “Gang of Eight” Immigration Reform.
Personally, I will never vote for this guy.
In a matter of weeks the “Savior of the GOP” has shown himself to be just a younger imitation of John McCain.
