WOLF: Shaking the moss off the GOP
The Washington Times ^ | 3 April 2013 | Dr. Milton R. Wolf

Posted on 04/03/2013 5:02:27 AM PDT by COBOL2Java

Would you invest in a company with a string of failures as sweeping as the GOP establishment’s? Mitt Romney, John McCain and Bob Dole: All are products of the establishment, and all are failed candidates who opened the doors to the Obama and Clinton eras.

Even when establishment candidates do manage to win office — George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush — it’s a stretch to call their presidencies successful. The only undeniably successful Republican president of the modern era — Ronald Reagan — reached the White House by overcoming the opposition of the GOP establishment. Now the Gipper is considered to be among the greatest presidents in American history.

This pattern continues in the Senate. Today’s Republican superstars were yesterday’s GOP primary enemies: Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. Now the Republican establishment hopes you’ll forget that they opposed these men just as they did Reagan.

The GOP establishment does not pick winners. Consider former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, the establishment’s choice for senator. When primary voters chose Mr. Rubio instead, the contemptible Mr. Crist abandoned the party to run an independent campaign against Mr. Rubio and has now even become a registered Democrat. Never forget that this is the repugnant figure who the GOP insiders supported instead of Mr. Rubio.

Now Karl Rove — the consummate insider — has launched his so-called Conservative Victory Project to protect entrenched Republicans against future Marco Rubios. Imagine that: The man who pushed George W. Bush's government explosion, including “no bureaucrat left behind” at the Department of Education, the largest expansion of Medicare in the history of the program and the TARP bank bailouts, now wants to choose your candidates.

Be warned: The GOP establishment and the liberal mainstream media are singing from the same hymnal, both citing the failed senatorial campaigns of Indiana’s Richard Mourdock and Missouri’s W. Todd Akin as reason to reject the Tea Party. Mr. Akin was never a Tea Party favorite, but fine, I’ll see their Mourdock and Akin, and I’ll raise them a Romney, a McCain, a Dole and two Bushes. I’ll even throw in an Arlen Specter, a Richard G. Lugar and a Lindsey Graham for good measure.

By their own standards, the GOP establishment’s record of choosing candidates is a lesson in abject failure. They lose, and even when they win, we lose.

The chorus is growing. This song is very familiar. And true!

Well DANG, sounds like the brilliant Dr. Wolf just got through reading this, especially the part about "even when they win, they lose..." - almost a direct quote!

The GOP is THE Party of Romney, gay marriage
(imposed by Romney), RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE (imposed
by ROmney), backstabbing of conservatives
(designed by Romney and Rove)
and LYING LYING LYING (designed by Romney and Rove).

The GOP is the party of the DNC, of the MSM,
and of Soros.

THE GOP is the enemy of conservatives.

With all due respect, we had a choice of Rubio vs. Crist. Rightfully, Rubio did not go into details about his view of any immigration policy but did give us insights as to what his personal inclinations were.

He remains emphatic that completed border security is the only starting point for any policy to enact any other policies or laws on what to do with those who are in this country illegally. He kinda woke up ole Schmuckie last weekend, now didn’t he?

So, with that what would have been your choice?

I was talking about NOW not then. I realize that all elections are not-so-pretty trade offs. Many here voted for Romney because the alternative was Obama.

NOW Rubio is jumping forward on amnesty (path to full citizenship) to gain creds with Hispanics and provide ‘conservative Tea party’cover for GOP to vote for it.

In his dealing with HIS buddies Schumer and McCain and Grahamnesty and Durbin and Robert Menendez only one side made a concession before the talks started, Rubio agreed to path to citizenship meaning giving illegals the same vote we have.

I completely forgot that Rubio beat Crist in the primary!

And now the GOP-E is taking credit for him.

However - since Rubio is up to his eyeballs in Amnesty, the GOP-E still wins, and it doesn't matter anyway!

Rubio’s chief of staff has spoken publicly in favor of Amnesty.

The Center for Immigration Studies has had several blog posts on that.

In my opinion, Rubio was and remains committed to Amnesty.

Anyone who reads the history of Reagan's 1986 Amnesty understands that every “protection” Rubio claims he wants will be overturned in court or will be simply unenforced.

As to “waking up” Schumer with a demand for public hearings, that is completely backwards.

Rubio is the one who is “waking up” to the fact that 75% of the Republican Party will walk away from him if he supports the “Gang of Eight” Immigration Reform.

Personally, I will never vote for this guy.

In a matter of weeks the “Savior of the GOP” has shown himself to be just a younger imitation of John McCain.

Why do Republicans keep attacking their members? They bicker and denounce each other. That’s not how you win elections. Case in point is the ill-fated 2008 ticket of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin. Ms. Palin and her family were ruthlessly attacked — by her own party — which contributed to Senator McCain losing his bid for the presidency. The latest example is Dr. Benjamin Carson who has expressed no desire to position himself for public office and is instead voicing strong, sensible solutions to some of the problems in this country.

When are the Republicans going to learn there must be unity within the party in order to win the election for the highest office in the country? You almost never see the Democrats attack each other.
