Granny I did the same thing. Looked at my childbirth hospital bill. Amazing. You know when the prices for health care went up? The day Lyndon signed Medicare, and then went through the roof when Medicaid was signed.
When I was working at the hospital, I started a conversation with one of our gastrologist about how he was doing with the new rules.....He said he normally charges 225 dollars for a gastronome. (years after bc/bs.) The government guide lines said that procedure was to be 320 dollars, of which the government would charge his patient the difference.....Subtract 225 dollars from 320 dollars and he said he got a raise of 25 dollars. the patient was at that time usually didn't get billed as the doctor was getting more than he usually charged. At that time most doctors said they would just take what the government gave, patient didn't have to pay the difference.....We are from the government and are here to help you....from there costs went sky high and it no longer was hospitalization but health care.
