Freeper Doctor Raoul Has Died
Raouls Family | 3/25/2013 | Abner

Posted on 03/25/2013 10:08:35 AM PDT by abner

Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.

Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.

This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.

He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.

He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.

If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.

“Step away from the intern, come out with your pants up!”

The full request: "Bill Clinton, put down the cigar, step away from the intern and come out with your pants up!"

Wow, what a bummer! I had some good times back in the day freeping with Dr. Raoul.

Chasing Hillary around was fun. She really didn't like him at all!

Thank you for those. If I can remember how to post a pic, I have one I took of him at the Freeper Inaugural Ball. Nope, can't seem to remember the html to post an image. <"http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8590904134_4db2d0e22d_m.jpg">

I believe you are correct. I can barely remember what I had for lunch yesterday, let alone a quick quip 15 years ago.

His (MCM’s) post titled, “I was there, Where were you.” was one of the greatest acts of FReeper motivation ever concieved. Mr ConfettiMan, the good Dr, and the entire DC chapter have been our examples of activism in the field inspiring all of us at our local levels and for trips to focus areas such as the Federal District, DOD hospitals, political events and elsewhere.

While FR is Jim’s gift to us, these DC Chapter folks have just as much been our greatest inspiration for activism.

He racked up a lot of miles to get to DC so often.

Every couple of months or so, I would ride down with him. I offered to cover some of the tolls and gas, but he wouldn't hear of it. He helped me move, twice. One time when I missed a FReep because my car's battery had died, he came by and helped me to change the battery. I truly hope he rests in peace.

Very glad to see you and we should all include thanks to you for your early examples in activism.

There are a lot of FReepers that are MIA, and some won’t be back. Every loss is painful for lots of FReepers. Even those who have no personal interaction with a poster.

The loss is real. Prayers up.
