I have long maintained that it was wrong to allow females to matriculate at our military academies — something that, IIRC — began in the 1970s during VietNam.

Remember, from the beginning, female military academy cadets were NEVER held to the same physical standards as their male counterparts.

It does not take a Ph.D. in physics to see that the one leads to the other (admitting women to our military academies to demands to place women in combat).

The argument has usually been that combat combat restrictions create unfair limitations on female officers’ career advancement.

This is not the argument of enlisted Women Marines or enlisted female soldiers, or enlisted female sailors or airmen.

Nor is it an argument based on either national security needs or a desire to improve our military’s combat effectiveness. (Is this not a red flag to all with a room-temp IQ?)

Rather, this (career-limitation whining) is the argument of spoiled, privileged women permitted to rob able-bodied males of coveted Academy slots, who now want to do the same in combat units.

I have read arguments in this forum of those defending placing women in the Academies. Okay. Now defend this nonsense.

Trust me, the Russians and Chinese are laughing at us for our folly.

I fear we may well be headed for disastrous military defeat. Our enemies care nothing about our social experimentation. They care only about defeating us in battle — something our current leaders appear to be facilitating.

This idiocy is a cancer on our military, and it is now metastasizing.

What can I say sir but to agree 100%.

We have been reduced to a comedy but it isn’t funny.

No wonder I weep when I try to sing “God Bless America”.

The ultimate goal in all of this is to weaken our military so badly that it is no longer the greatest fighting force in the world. They are removing our best warriors by driving them out or getting them killed so that our armed forces can no longer protect us. America on her knees begging for mercy is one of the prime fantasies of the left.

It was after Vietnam. The Fall of 1976 was when the first class started, so the class of ‘80 was the first graduating class with women. I knew several people in that class, including the best man in my wedding and one young lady (who I had dated). They were the class ahead of me in high school. Saigon fell in 1975, and we were essentially out of Vietnam by 1973 as a combat force. Some would even say 1972.

Gerald Ford was President and signed the law that enabled women at the service academies that came from a Dem Congress. Dems were holding all the cards politically because of the downfall of Nixon.

It’s worth noting that this went on during the time of the push for the Equal Rights Amendment, which would have been a disaster, and which was stopped largely by conservative Phyllis Schlafly, who is worth reading up on. And of course since she’s a conservative political figure, the Wiki page is a thinly-disguised hit piece. Back in that pre-Internet era, she did it largely with direct mail campaigns and organizing through conservative churches.
