Some of that clip was just plain scary.

Thank you.

The "men" (I use the term loosely) who make that kind of 'Haha ... look at the silly girl ... girls can't shoot' video are complete jackasses.

The real incompetence is on the part of the "men" (again, I use the term loosely) who obviously don't know jack about teaching someone to shoot.

Um, yeah. Never DID have to learn THAT particular lesson, Thank Goodness! My brothers were GREAT instructors when it came to all manner of shotguns and rifles...and I ADORED my M-16 while in the Army. I slept with it enough, LOL!

The Democratic Base (aka the moron voters) are perfectly represented by Biden. But somewhere, a village is still short its idiot.

Amazing that people like Obaba, Biden, and other top Dem politicians can get re-elected. Says a lot about the Dem voters, nothing of it good. A free republic depends on intelligent and informed voters, who vote the Country’s good, not their personal back pockets. By that standard, the USA is now over ripe to become just another failed police state, to become the USSA.

Sad, but as they say...it’s the people who make the slum. Take Detroit or Chicago, jewels of Obamaland. High crime, high poverty slums courtesy Dem govt. For that matter, how about DC?

Wouldn’t have happened if she was shooting an AR15 no matter how poor a shooting posture she had.

Pictures are worth a thousand words.
But I wonder if anyone has the quantified recoil force for a 12 guage pump (not auto, which would absorb some recoil) vs an AR firing .223.

Data from Chuckhawks.com

223 Rem. (55 at 3200)
Gun Wt: 8.0
Recoil Energy(ft/lbs): 3.2

12 gauge, 3” (1 7/8 at 1210)
Gun Wt: 7.5
Recoil Energy(ft/lbs): 60.1

12 gauge, 2.75” (1 1/4 at 1330)
Gun Wt.: 7.5
Recoil Energy(ft/lbs): 32.0

No data on 3.5” shells, but depending on amount of shot i would guess 75+ ft/lbs. Slugs are a whole other story.

Obviously big difference.

As another poster hit on, most of those vids are the dudes in those women’s lives setting them up. Its funny but also dangerous and reinforcing fear of recoil, imho.

That’s a great training video of what not to do and you’re right on the mark about someone not getting killed in the making of it.

I have a Remington 12 gauge and high powered Remington rifle and knew they were too much and too heavy for me to handle - I didn't have to knock myself over from the recoil to know that.

So,in the last several months, bought a Ruger 22 LR (color PINK) and hollow point cartridges and a 25 cartridge magazine.

It is irony that yesterday, the Senate subcommittee passed the Feinstein Assault Weapons ban and it's now at the Senate for a vote. That bill outlaws magazines that hold more than ten cartridges. The irony is, my 25 cartridge magazine was delivered to my house at the same time that bill outlawing that magazine, was on its way to the senate.

Reid will allow that bill on the floor and the liberals will make speeches to take away our freedom to buy the weapon we want and take away our freedom to be able to fire as many cartridges as we want. I have heard a few congress members say the magazine limit may be removed from that bill and voted on separately in order to pass it. This is suppression of liberty bit by bit.

Yea, real funny. My ex-girlfriends brother pulled that crap on her. She’s scared to death of guns now. Really great. You want to create some gun-grabber? Just pull some of that crap. A woman or small person properly taught can shoot pretty much anything. In addition to being stupid, it’s also cruel. Where are all the nannies hollering “domestic violence”?

She was like a waterskier being dragged under the water and wouldn’t let go of the rope.

She kept her finger on the trigger and experienced the equivalent of bump firing the shotgun.

Very dangerous because she didn’t have control of the muzzle after the first shot.

Correct. My wife was seriously (and with good reason) afraid of guns when we met. We started with a pellet gun ... and the understanding that I'm a gentleman.

Her favourite weapon is a particular brand of 12ga semiauto shotgun ... #2 is a .357 revolver.

Treat most people with respect, and the exceed expectations.

I agree. The boyfriends or husbands of these ladies were idiots for putting their wives & girl friends (and anyone else in proximity, including themselves) at risk when they didn’t even know how to hold the shotguns securely against their shoulders. Plus I wouldn’t want my shotgun to be flipped up & over, and falling hard on the ground or cement.

*** Makes a good point about recoil and novices, but you don't give a woman a 12 gauge and say, "Just pull the trigger" and wait for the *fun*. ***

Nor to a guy who's never fired a shotgun, even a 'big' guy, I know. My buddy Joe, built like a brick Sh*t-House and the strongest of our bunch, got knocked on his butt firing a 12ga for the first time.

It was when we were yutes, 18-21 (before all the stupid gun laws). Joe took Glenn's 12ga Rem Autoloader and thought, 'No Big Deal' as Glenn was a skinny guy. Well Big Ole Joe wound up on the ground from the recoil. He took a lot of ribbing for that as he was kind of a know-it-all. Don't think Joe ever fired a shotgun again.

The real incompetence is on the part of the “men” (again, I use the term loosely) who obviously don't know jack about teaching someone to shoot.

That is the same reaction that I always have when viewing these types of videos. Kind of good fun to watch, but sad that people are making their women feel like they are incapable of defending themselves. I want my wife to feel confident in her ability to defend herself. After a good deal of training she does.

She weighs right around 100 lbs.; She has been victimized by violent criminals in the past and is determined not to let it happen ever again. She takes a concealed pistol with her much of the time.

She has shot every gun we own and shows no apperant fear of recoil. This includings our 12 guage shot guns, so called “assault rifles” and also full powered battle rifles both bolt action and semi-auto. She uses a proper stance and a little shoulder padding. She enjoys shooting the bigger guns at the range. My goal has always been for her to have the proper respect for the weapons but to have fun while shooting them.

She is a very capable shooter; she has a number of options if she felt threatened at home. Her standard plan is to take cover in the bedroom and shoot any bad guys who get near her position. Her favorite rifle is still her trusty 30 carbine and would probably be her weapon of choice. Of course she has other choices with lasers and lights, but she would rather not reveal her position.

With the 30 carbine round there would not be a lot of over-penetration through our walls in the unlikely event that she missed... We live on an acre so the neighbors aren't real close anyway but that should still be a consideration. As far as stopping power... a 125 grain .357 mag clocks around 1400 fps or so from a pistol for approximately 550 ft. lbs. of force. The .30 Carbine shoots a 110 grain projectile at around 2,000 fps for approximately 967 ft. lbs. of force. Even Dirty Harry's weapon of choice the 44 mag only puts out approximately 1200 ft. lbs. of force when fired from a pistol.

I think that it is a good weapon for a woman who practices and has taken a defensive position inside of her home. I believe that my wife would act without hesitation and fire accurately. To give it a little better knock down power... I have assembled a couple batches of hollow points for her. We have spent some time at the range working on the recipe. They cycle fine and should expand and fragment when hitting their target. There is a good article about the 30 carbine and those types of reloads at: http://www.humanevents.com/2012/01/17/the-30-carbinenot-the-wussy-you-think/
