Lamont DeShawn Price was No. 18 of the 131 homicides in Oakland last year.
He was killed Feb. 16 while sitting in a car, his family believes for taking a girl's cell phone.
Lamont, 17, was by no means perfect. He had a juvenile record, skipped school, fathered a baby and was shot dead before he was old enough to vote.
His father, Ramon Price Sr., is both a reverend and employee at a funeral home. He's seen plenty of bullet wounds - small, dirty caves burrowed in flesh, as he describes them.
That could have been my son, he used to think. Then it was.
Lamont's funeral "was a day I can never forget, but a day I can hardly remember," Price said.

17 years old, criminal record, father of a child and now dead. Why does this seem to be a perpetual motion machine?

Now days you don’t even have to read the article to know how slanted it is. Simply read the name of the “yute.”
That’s great for it saves a lot of wasted time reading simple garbage.

He’ll still vote. Not that it matters much in California.

I once managed a large department of a company in the Bay Area. I’ll never forget when a valued employee, who was a professional black lady who had been there for many years, basically demanded to be transferred to another office in another state. I couldn’t afford to lose her and her long term institutional knowledge. I asked what it was all about... And it was her son. She asked me: “if you had a sixteen year old black son would you want him growing up in Oakland?”
Uh... Well... No. I approved the transfer.

As the Chronicle states, he died before he could vote...but luckily, he will continue to vote for Democrats, even in 2014.

What a waste. Another kid’s life claimed by thug culture. I pray for the best for the baby daughter and the guy’s surviving siblings.

This is a story we hear waaaay to often. It should touch any and every one of us when a parent loses a child who hasn't even had a chance at life.
But, this is reality in liberal controlled cities.
My first computer teacher was a black man from Oakland who told me of being beaten up [often] because he studied and got good enough grades to make something of himself.
It was the Jesse Jackson world, now it is Obama's world folks, and it ain't going away - it's getting worse.
