I can’t believe all the disrespect and jokes from FR.

Oh, I can. Not the least bit surprised. I’ve never seen such hatred of Catholics until I joined FR back in 2004. Sure, some of the worst have been tossed off the site but it still exists here.

Actually I am not sure that you have a “heart” or a functioning brain. Pope Benedict had NADA to do with that.

Why presume it is all about hating Catholics.

Maybe some if it is hating child molesters and those that cover for them.

There is no way anyone can convince me that Ratzinger didn’t know about the way the Church was covering up for child molesters.

When you see it over and over and over no matter the country no matter the time period you know it comes from the top.

To be fair, maybe he was forced into covering up for Child Molesters- especially the good Friend of the Previous Pope.

No one has to convince you.

Benedict did neither. And you’re still an idiot.

I am not Catholic - I am a Jew - but I will pray for the Holy Father as I know he is the guardian of the one true church of Jesus of Nazareth. Thank you for your concise comment. I do not believe in “looks,” but I do believe in spiritual warfare. Perhaps Benedictus felt frail and knew the stakes were too high.

Why would that be ‘affirmative action’? He seems to be fine on his own merits.

I knew very little about Catholics until I came to FR. The way they talk about non-Catholics and even about each other pretty much makes me apathetic to any of their troubles.

Pretty sick comment about the Pope who had nothing to do with any of that.

The Legal Crowbars have already begun prying details out of the Catholic Church that they did not want revealed and have fought hard to conceal ..all the way to the US Supreme Court.

I hope the depth of the cover up eventually sees the light of day.

I presume nothing.

I’ve spent close to ten years reading the bile filled posts of so called Conservatives who hate Catholics and the Catholic church.

Such people on here might be surprised to learn the only people who hate us just as much are rage filled progressives.

Thanks.

Hopefully this a Mayan-like non-event with no real catastrophic connection.

I do as well. But, not every Catholic clergy person is an evil child molester or enabler of those. We just buried our Bishop Emeritus here in the Fort Wayne-South Bend diocese John D’Arcy who was sent here as bishop in 1985 some think as an exile post after he had the gall as an auxiliary bishop to point out what he thought was wrong in his home diocese in Massachusetts. He is just one example of those who have done the right thing.

Perhaps he sees the ongoing worldwide disruption and political instability and has decided to hand the reins over to some one able to manage and act.

Having the head of a country incapacitated during unstable times is unwise.

Benedict is wise, if anything.

I have a lot of respect for him.
