The Obama administration warned on Friday that across-the-board spending cuts set to take effect in March may result in furloughing every U.S. meat and poultry inspector for two weeks, causing the meat industry to shut down.

By law, meatpackers and processors are not allowed to ship beef, pork, lamb and poultry meat without the Agriculture Department's inspection seal.

The prospect of mass furloughs of meat and food inspectors was part of a broader White House warning about the effects of the potential spending cuts on everyday life. Meatpackers said a shut-down would devastate consumers as well as their industry.

If you dare go for "budget cuts," stand by to get reamed via an evil revenge scheme by "The One."

He Will do this because he can drive the middle class deeper into debt and create a "crisis" and blame the gelding pubbies all at the same time.

This, combined with gas prices creeping higher (he will go for $5 now that he's safely re-elected) will put the average guy into poverty.

Ooooooh! Scare-mongering. Another mainstay tactic of the Left. "Women and children (and the poor) affected the hardest - and the most"". Aren't they always?

Hey, Zero, sequestering was your idea!!!!

This what happens when a society becomes over consumed by their need to be protected from anything that could harm us. We allow the government to become a draconian monster that can destroy society if we try to reign it in from out of control spending.

Those who are willing to give up a portion of their freedoms so that it will be protected from harm will inevitably end up with neither their freedom nor thief safety from harm

Or something in that nature.

Remember Obama’s campaign promise to punish his enemies and get revenge? He’s punishing those who cling bitterly to their guns and religion and getting revenge on his opponents. If some of his supporters suffer, it’s an acceptable cost. Besides, he’ll never be held accountable for any outrage, especially the sheep who believe him to be divine.

It was HIS administration that came up with this deal - Tax increases in return for budget cuts. He got his tax increases. Now, it's his turn.

The Republicans did their part. Now we're seeing Obomas part of his deal. If people don't like meat being cut, they shouldn't have voted for Oboma. It's really quite simple. If they have a complaint, talk to him about it. It's his call.

No it won’t, and no HE won’t. The feds don’t have enough people to enforce it, let alone enough people to stop deliveries. The only one’s who’ll stop are the large ag-interests who are in bed with the government, and they’ll end up suffering for their capitulation to the fed gov monster.

You are correct-(though I don't swallow communism as it died a while back).

The primary impediment to the removal of the clowns and bad seed from our government is that we are not ready. No good leaders, no supplies, no organization and lastly no Will. At present people are too busy eating, drinking, drugging, copulating, evacuating their bowels, snoring and then attending the "Games!" We have quite a task to perform before we can even dream of a proper removal of the scum presently holding office. We must-inter alia- destroy egalitarianism, restore some morals, look for leaders, organize and develop a desire to remove.

This is the same tactic used by municipalities to get a tax rate increase. They always threaten the very things that the voting public cares about, like police and fire departments, but not a peep about the mountain of paper shufflers and regulatory busybodies in their employ.

Don’t mean to be nit picky, but just when did communism “die?”

The collapse of the Soviet Union did NOT kill communism. It is still alive in many, many places. Places like North Korea, China (still is communist), Cuba a smattering of African countries and a large majority of universities in this country.

Communism is a political ideology, and as such cannot “die.” It will always be practiced by some group somewhere. Like in our own White House.

A glance at the CPUSA will shed some light on the vast number of people who still adhere to Marxism as a legitimate form of government.

Marxism is definitely not dead and gone, the commie pigs just want you to think so.

“Liberal ideas of cuts in spending are to spread the most pain to the most people”

Right from the old leftist playbook. But since there is so much waste, fraud and unnecessary spending, this can be easily countered - grab the microphone and ask people whether they need meat for their families, or NPR, or {fill in the blank] . . . then watch the libs squirm like the worms that they are.

The immediate thought is that supermarkets will have empty shelves where fresh beef, pork and chicken would be and that would hurt consumers and markets.

But think of all of the restaurants that advertise using only fresh not frozen meat. In-N-Out, Five Guys, Wendys, and several other fast food places advertise the same. Top end eateries rely upon daily deliveries of the freshest food to keep their reputation up.

This is a huge threat and may be the best opportunity for Republicans to show some balls and dare the President to cut off the nation’s meat supplies. It might, just might, get through to a few voters what was at stake in the last election and what lies have been fed to them by the media.

I think you are missing the point. The point isn’t to COMPROMISE.

The point is to PUNISH. If it goes through, it will be a solid 2 weeks, and “The One” will point the finger at the pubbies and the Joey Goebbels and Baghdad Bobs of the msm will scream to high heaven about what those “wascally wepublicans” have done.

This tactic is not new.

Just harken back to the days of Slick Willie and the gov shutdown that HE orchestrated. All the press and bureauKaRATZ lined up sob stories about how those pubbies were soooo meeeaaannn.

Count on it. Its in their playbook.

You would think that the geniuses (I refer to Congressional Republicans in this case, quite facetiously) who so believe that they have the answer to all our lives, that they spend millions to get elected, only to go against our wishes in “our best interests”, would have a plan when something perfectly foreseeable like this situation, arises. An answer to this cipher of a president. But they never do-all the while that he’s pointing the finger at them, they just stand there with their fingers in their mouths going “duuuhhhh”. O course, having an enemedia doesn’t help, but they don’t even try to make their case. If anything, they suck up to the media, as if they’re being blackmailed. Hmmmm...

They won’t do it like that. They’ll squeal about the “evil rich” (anyone who earns their own way and pays taxes) and how they’re going to make sure that the downtrodden (parasites) get their cut. A majority of the voters now just want their “gibmes” at someone else’s expense.
