It seems Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx just can't avoid saying something really stupid at awards ceremonies.
After calling Barack Obama "Our Lord and Savior" at last November's Soul Train Awards, Foxx, during his acceptance speech as Entertainer of the Year at last Friday's NAACP Image Awards, said, "Black people are the most talented people in the world" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

The fact remains however, that had a white person said anything even remotely similar ... in fact, had a white person in any way, shape, or form, acknowledged his whiteness, much less equated it to other talented whites in some global white talent pool, they would be crucified. Their career would be over. They would never work in their chosen field ever again.
And that is what is wrong here. A blatant double standard -- that someone can be at an all black awards show acknowledging their blackness, and ultimately ascribing supreme talent to blacks ... it should be seen for what it is ... outdated racialism, if not outright racism.
But hey, maybe I am behind the times. Maybe race does matter. Maybe race is the be all and end all ... if so, then we are screwed as a nation, with wounds that will never heal, and we are destined to war.
He must be white, because he's so talented, I have failed to see a single one of his talented "acting" jobs.

Yes they are! Just look at how talented they’ve been in running Detroit, Birmingham, Memphis, South Africa, Zimbabwe-any place in the world run by blacks-right into the ground. Even when the previous “untalented” white people who ran it, left them all the infrastructure, an efficient economy, etc, as a head start (one which we create for ourselves, I might add). Jamie Foxx is such a joke. Anyone here seen “Stealth”? There’s a delightful scene where the three pilots are in their shipboard rooms “studying” the new UAV assigned to their group. The two white people study diligently while a shirtless, sunglasses-wearing Jamie Foxx (I swear I’m not making this up) listens to rap music, spins a basketball on his finger, and pretends like paparazzi are taking pictures of him at a nightclub. Every few seconds he glances at the computer that he should be studying.
It’s supposed to further establish that Foxx’s character is “the cool one” but it’s so blatantly racist, one has to wonder how it made it into the final cut. And Jamie Foxx apparently had no problem with the scene or his participation in it.
Talented indeed Jamie - don't let the plantation door hit you in the face when you take a quick peek at the greener side of the fence.

Really; I’ll never understand why whites spend money seeing movies that just denigrate them while sowing this absurd fantasy world of black geniuses and family men that is totally at odds with what our lying eyes show all around us.
I also don’t know why the powers that be that promote this nonsense simultaneously allow “The Maury Show” to depict blacks in such a negative light (especially because it is the bottom of the barrel in terms of whites that are home watching it while others are at work).

Let's not forget that unlike lots of other property owners during the Los Angeles riots who decided to get out of the way of the rioters, knowing they could collect their insurance money and either rebuild or shut down their business, significant numbers of Korean business owners lived in the upper floors of the inner-city stores which they had spent huge amounts of personal effort to reopen when other people weren't willing to take the risk to start an inner-city business. Also, many had minimal if any insurance.
When you see a mob of angry people approaching your business and your wife and daughter are cowering upstairs in your bathroom, you're much more likely to get out a rifle and start shooting.
Considering some other comments on this thread, I'd better say this has zero to do with race. I've lived in inner-city communities, both black neighborhoods in the north and Hispanic barrios in the southwest, where I was virtually the only white person in my neighborhood. Most black or hispanic people, even in high-crime neighborhoods, are decent people. The problem is they've been intimidated into silence by a small percentage of thugs.
Rather than gun bans, personally I think the best thing we could do for the inner cities is to encourage handgun ownership for everyone living in a high-crime neighborhood who doesn't have a criminal record, with free training for women and elderly people, on the grounds that a handgun in the hands of a woman or an older person neutralizes the physical strength advantages of young angry males. Burglaries and home invasion rates would drop quickly, and lots of crime victims with good aim would have the beneficial side effect of reducing our prison bills.
Is this an unconstitutional income redistribution scheme in which the government shouldn't be involved. Of course.
But hey, sometime we have to compromise in politics. If we're going to give "Obamaphones" to poor inner-city people, as long as we're going to spend government money on something anyway, why not give "GOPguns" to poor inner-city people?
This will never happen, of course, but if it did, it might actually work.
