Assault rifles have become hot ticket items as gun control talks amp up.
Its tremendous, the increase in sales that weve had, weve increased ammo sales, AR-15s, you name it, Larrys Gun Shop representative Ron Abernathy said.
Stores statewide are struggling to keep up with the rush. Even ammunition has been hard to come by as gun owners stockpile supplies.
Theres a lot of people that are scared [they wont be able to buy, following new gun control regulations], and thats a lot of the reason for ammo being scarce and hard to find, Abernathy said.

“Assault rifles”
There is NO SUCH THING!!
It’s a made up term to scare the masses into submission.
a friend of mine told me in some parts of Atlanta .223 is going for ~$1700 per 1000/1200
I just ordered some 9mm Luger from BudsGunShop.com and CheaperthanDirt.com...should arrive Wednesday.
That’s crazy. It sure isn’t so that everybody can turn it in after an AWB ban.
Is so - I saw a TV show where a guy, with an assault rifle, assaulted another guy by hitting him in the head with the butt of the rifle...if that ain't an assault rifle, I don't know what is.
lol!
“They are Modern Sporting Rifes. “
Oh, I know.
I just get tired of the lame stream media using the term to try to scare the public.
It’s total bullhockey!
1. Approximate population of the U.S. is 313 million.
2. Approximate number of firearms in private hands 300+ million and growing by millions each month.
3. Approximate percentage of population with one gun, 50%.
4. Guns added to American homes since 20 January 2009, 67 million+.
5. Approximate number of active duty Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) is 2,23 million and Indian Army is 1,13 million (2.4 million total).
6. New guns purchased by Americans in November 2012 = 2 million; guns purchased in December 2012 = 2.7 million. Americans could have totally reequipped the standing armies of two of the world's largest populations and had 300,000+ new firearms left over.
7. Gun shows continue to be packed, gun shops are sold out of guns and ammo. People are not buying guns in order to turn them over to government thugs.
8. More and more county sheriffs are publicly announcing the will resist any gun grabs by FedGov.
9. More and more states have told the Feds they will arrest, try, convict and imprison any Feds trying to enforce a gun grab in their state.
10. New Yorkers (civilians and cops) are in open defiance of Gov. Cuomo’s and the Donkey Party's recent gun grab. Massive non-compliance.
The lines are being drawn in in the sand. People are choosing sides, they are armed, and they are pissed off. America realizes its system is broken and corrupt and it's about time to start shooting the bastards (and bitches). Are they listening? It doesn't appear so.
That’s about right for good defensive ammo...plinking ammo should be much, much less (70 cents a round if you are lucky). Cheaperthandirt.com has some .223/5.56 ammo available, but the pickings are still pretty slim.

Washington Post: What a difference a day and a march make
More proof of media bias and the Liberal media’s goal of influencing America’s public opinion on issues of the day. The Washington Post featured a gallery of 12 photos from the gun control march Saturday with the headline: “Nearly 1000 march in D.C. for Gun Control”

sure sounds like it... maybe it's supply and demand or cash sales or maybe he was misinformed since he lives in Key West and got it from a friend of his, but that's what he said
I saw 1000 rounds of CCI .22LR on gunbroker last night for $434 and the bidding still have time left!
Heck yeah! $100.00 wally world card for a $1200.00 AR platform? Where do I line up? Mine has been acting VERY suspicious lately and I’m not sure if I trust it any more. Wait, I just remembered it got melted in the last Mt. Pinatubo eruption. Guess I won’t be getting those air jordans after all.
No “if”. Don’t think it will pass. Of course I thought the same in ‘94 and almost puked when it did.
Molon labe.
Why would anyone comply with an unconstitutional law anyway?
Excellent idea Yo-Yo!
****Assault rifles have become hot ticket items as gun control talks amp up. ****
And to think, forty one years ago you could not give an AR away. No one wanted them (except me).
Everyone asked about it...”Can it kill a deer?” “What good is it?” “Looks like a Mattel toy.” “My .303 will outshoot it!” Even gun magazines of 1976 snorted at the thought of the AR being a serious rifle.
Ten years later they were the hot item along with the first AKs in the country. It seems that Mel Tappan got the ball really rolling on them back with his survival articles in GUNS AND AMMO magazine.
That’s insane. I bought 300 CCI Mini Mags at Walmart yesterday for under 25 bucks.
people are panic buying, but it's past the time to buy ammo now...
Beware of the risk of ordering from Bud’s.
Yeah....but they had some great, great deals a year or so ago on Lake City SS109 and steel core 7.62X39.......they came in ammo cans and in sealed tins. The only thing I got recently was I picked up 200 rds of 223 DRT I’d been meaning to order....they took 3 weeks plus to process. There was virtually nothing else available but those.
I’ve never had a problem. Tell me about yours.
5.56 Nato (5.56x45mm), Federal XM855F, 62 Grain Steel Penetrator Lead Core Full Metal Jacket Bullet. 300 Round Box.
I’d like to know how and when you ordered from Cheaper than Dirt.
I have been trying to load their site for over 2 weeks. I have tried to get on using every computer in my house, including my iPhone.
I just tried your link and it too doesn’t work. Tried from Google, still nothing. I have spent 2 weeks just trying to get on the site... nothing.
So, how are you doing it??
that's $1200 for 900 rounds... another $400 to bring it to 1200 is $1600
plus taxes, shipping and handling
damn near the same price
Have you tried going to their site using another browser...perhaps your browser is blocking their site. I'm using Firefox.
I just got on CTD with IE...so I guess browser is not the problem. Due you have a parental control turned on that might block ammo and gun sites?
guns and ammo are more valuable than gold to me
But,guess what, had to buy ammo storage boxes so all these packs of ammo weren't jumbled together. Ammo storage boxes are not easily found, either - the most popular are not plentiful. Plus, needed shoulder strap for the 22 lr. The straps were easy to find, but not the storage boxes.
This morning I found the right boxes for individual cartridges of those various rounds but still needed two generic storage boxes for extra packs. FOUND ZOMBIE AMMO BOXES! They are good MTM boxes with place for lock, with a big picture of ZOMBIES on them - no way to not know what's in these boxes.
I found the MTM ZOMBIE ammo boxes on Amazon and not on any gun supply website. I am through with buying what I need to kill zombies with numerous weapons. My defense weapons belong to me and Hussein can pound sand, plus I live in Texas and we'll put that sucker in jail if he comes for our guns.
I get on every time. You have other tech problems.
This is strange as heck, it doesn’t matter what I do, it does not open. About a month ago I ordered extra 30 round mags for my 5.56 and I have never heard back from them. I guessed that they had gone out of business until I saw your post.
LOL... I don’t need parental control, unless my wife locked me out because I have spent nearly 2k on gun stuff this past month.
What are some of the best places to get ammunition to stock up on?
Right now, I think it's luck to find ammo. I went to every gun company/supply on the web I could find and checked them every day because as soon as they get some, it's gone. If you check every day, you will eventually find some. I couldn't find a rifle, either, but by checking every day, up popped one in stock and I ordered it right then.
And not all .223/5.56 is created equal. I only buy IMI, Lake City or Winchester Q3131.
What is a good place to order it online, even if there is a delay in having it shipped?
“What is a good place to order it online, even if there is a delay in having it shipped?”
I think Cabela’s, http://www.cabelas.com/ is a good place to look. That’s where I found Remington 22lr hollow points with delivery in two weeks. That was not a backorder. Some places allow a backorder and some are not even doing that since they have no idea when they will get any. I think Cabela’s is getting in ammo faster than others.
Website worked for me. You must have a problem with your browser or something.
Did CTD charge your credit card? They are still very much alive (I hope).
just got on using FF no problem... does it give you an error message or say server not found?
Exactly. And the guns and ammo allow you to keep your gold.
It’s looks like every semi-auto rifle above a .22cal is suddenly “out of stock”.
Or at least I hope so, I have a Windham Weaponry AR-15 flat-top on order with a local gun-dealer friend who ordered some at a recent gun show.
I may add a scope, but not much more...well, maybe a front grip.
But I count on accumulating plenty of defensive and practice ammo. It may take some time...but I'll get there.
In the meantime, I am armed with (among other things) a new Glock 26 and plenty of ammo (defensive and plinking)
