Statement from Chris W. Cox Regarding Universal Background Checks

An article appearing on TheHill.com today asserted that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is working on a bill with the NRA that would implement universal background checks.

NRA does NOT support universal background checks and is not working with Manchin to implement this type of legislation. NRA opposes, and will continue to oppose, universal background checks and registration schemes.

It’s DOA in the House, DOA. They didn’t even try to bring it back when they had 3/5 of Congress in 2009 because they knew it would fail even then with all of the now mostly defeated blue dogs.

IF she could find a majority in the Senate which I also doubt, it could be fillibustered there.

I hope the Senate passes it though, yes you heard me. It’s political poison. Dumb witch is doing us a favor playing Don Quixote.

In 1993 she crafted that gun bill that helped wipe out the 40 year old Dem congress in 1994.
We need more Dems like her who put principles ahead of end results. They will help even out the R party handicap LOL.
