O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc, Americas oldest family-owned firearms manufacturer, today announced that the company will not attend or support the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The company reached this decision after Reed Exhibitions banned Modern Sporting Rifles and has refused to reconsider their stance.
Mossbergs position on the Second Amendment is unwavering and steadfast; therefore, the company will not support any organization or event that prohibits the display or sale of legal firearms.
We stand united with our loyal customers and supporters in this constitutional right and had only hoped for a different outcome.

They chose...poorly.
Time to buy more Mossbergs.
This is a good move by Mossberg. Very recently, Mossberg starting producing a very modestly priced AR.
Good old Mossy. A company as reliable as their guns.
Will there be anything left at the show?
I have one of the MMR Hunters. It is a great gun. The prices have shot up though. They are pulling $1500 or more on gun broker.

Anybody who chooses to go down the road Reed Exhibitions traveled knows that a similar fate is in store for them.
Are there any major sponsors left?

Here is a list of exhibitors.
Shows Ted Nugent is still planning on being there.
That surprises me...
Yes, you’d think he would have bailed as well.
He may be under contract
Yeah. All ARs, if you can find any, are way overpriced right now.
Interesting. I have only seen a couple of reviews of the mmr (not many of them out there yet). Do you have any other ARs to compare it to? Is it on the same quality level of a Bushmaster or S&W M&P 15 Sport? Have you tried shooting steel-cased ammo yet? Does it have a full or semi-auto bcg?
Just wondering.
At this trend, there’d be only ‘spitball contest’ in the Great Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.
not true, the MSM has intentionally censored the story from the public.
Has Drudge mentioned it?
Has Rush mentioned it?
Hanity?
Beck?
etc. etc?
it is not high on the public radar. at $7000 a pop (remember some of these sponsors only put a deposit down , not the full amount) this represents at least a 1,400,000 loss. This is appart from sponsors, appart from attendees not going.
The MSM does not want their advertisers panicing.
The left does not want to let politicians know they are in danger of not being re-elected.
I would guess that Mossberg isn’t having any trouble selling their wares these days, show or no show.
I hope not.
With any luck these a$$ hats will have to sit around in an empty building shooting at chirping crickets with water pistols.
Harrisburg PA counting on the ESOS to bring in revenue could kiss big $$$ good bye.
What a PR nightmare for Reed Exhibitions, but they might be hailed as Heroes from the Left, so there’s that.
When does this reach the tipping point, when so many venders cancel they have to cancel the show? If I were a potential customer, it would have been long ago.
See post #15 for a self-updating list link, now at 233 names and counting.
Yet another company to support. This could get expensive, but not this particular vendor, because Santa brought me a brand new Mossy for Christmas! W00t!
I’ve got a couple of Mossberg shotguns, a black 12 gauge pump, and a very nice walnut-stocked 20 gauge my wife loves to shoot trap with. I think I got the 20 gauge on sale at Walmart new a few years ago for about $150. Fine guns.
“Time to buy more Mossbergs.”
I’m ahead of ya. Bought the 590 mariner model right bf Xmas.
Then promptly lost it in my quarterly boating accident. I imagine that happens a lot to the mariner models.
Where?
ping
Although Im currently out of the country I take the time to make my “calls”.
I urge all of you to continue to take a stand!
had a .410 long ago, never hit a damn thing.. lucky them.
“Time to buy more Mossbergs.”
Time for Mossberg to pack up and move to Texas.
God Bless Texas!
Flo will be there to sell some Progressive insurance to the popcorn guy and the korny dog guy!
Dad and I ea own a Mossberg Silver Eagle O/U. We took up trap a couple yrs ago.
Bought them at the same time at a police supply store who bought a batch of refurbs. $700 gun sold for $289
Ea one has been shot the EXACT same number of times. My Dad’s has had two firing pins replaced (under warr) so far. Mine is still the way I got it. I wish I could understand this.
Any comments? Please e-mail me. see below
A news release that they were pulling out would be the icing on the cake.
Where are Ted Nugent and the Robertson family (duck and buck commander)? I have not heard a peep from them.
If they signed a contract that takes away their freedom of speech, then there is no sense in them being armed. They may as well have cut off their own balls.
Pros- It is very well built. Nothing is lose, it was actually pretty tight taking it down to clean. The pins required a little more than the tap on the Armalite which I'm sure will change over time. So far, not a single jam although I've put only about 50 rounds through. No problems with different types of magazines (PMags or old steel). I've had this question come up recently. It is chambered for 5.56 both lower and barrel versus .223 many budget models are so you have the flexibility of both calibers (big mistake too many make). It was pretty accurate right out of the box with an old NC Star red dot I had. It shot low but that was probably the shooter (OK, it was completely me).
Cons. It is hard to complain much due to the price but it is a very stripped down rifle. Only rails on the top. The barrel shroud doesn't have any. No optics, even iron sights were included. It doesn't have a forward assist or dust cover. Forward assist is probably unnecessary but I would have liked to at least have the option to add a dust cover but it doesn't have the mounts. It isn't balanced very well. The center of gravity seems to be well in front of the magazine versus the Armalite is right on the trigger. This causes me to shoot low until I get used to it. That's pretty much it on the cons that I've come up with so far.
Here is the hunter model:
and the hits just keep right on coming...
Drip, drip, drip..
Wish I could help you, but I have zero expertise in this area. Maybe someone else reading the thread can help. Or, if you were to post a vanity thread asking for ideas, I bet you’d get some good answers. Good luck!
Mossberg 500. A great shotgun.
Ted Nugent is probably going there to be an incredible pest, rubbing salt in their wounds, and enjoying every bit of it.
He might even scare more vendors away, who’ll be there half a day, look around, and beat feet.
Just a guess, but I think the organizers are going to regret letting Uncle Ted in the door...
I said the manufacturers and retailers who come up with the idea of attacking "assault weapons" are going to think twice about its effect on their bottom line.
Sounds like a good value (at least when the prices come down again to normal levels later this year — I think).
May I suggest getting a Vickers Combat Sling and 2 UWL (Universal Wireless Loops)s — Blue Force Gear if you don;’t have them already. This will allow you to more evenly distribute the weight of the weapon while firing. The sling is very adjustable. The UWL allow you to attach a patrol-sling to the rifle without constantly having the rifle twist itself in a knot.
I really like their two point sling. I wish I had one while in the Marines.
Very purdy. Wood stock AR/AKs. Still need a good tactical sling like the Vickers though.
