N.Y. Assembly Speaker Silver: ‘We Are Going To Ban Assault Weapons’
CBS New York ^ | 1/14/2013 | CBS

Posted on 01/14/2013 6:31:50 PM PST by FR_addict

ALBANY (CBSNewYork) – The New York State Legislature was poised Monday night to pass the first gun control measure following the Newtown school massacre. This as the vice president was set to unveil federal proposals to end gun violence on Tuesday.

Albany lawmakers have reportedly ironed out the kinks, allowing them to enact new gun control measures in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting. Assuming the new bill passes — it was sent to both house of the Legislature on Monday night — it will turn into the toughest set of gun control laws in the country. ...

The new state legislation will:

* Limit ammunition clips to seven. It’s now 10

* Force gun owners to renew their licenses every five years

* Stiffen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime

* Stiffen penalties for bringing a gun on school property

* New restrictions on the assault weapons already owned by New Yorkers

“They will be basically not permitted to be transferred. They will be grandfathered in but not in terms of a transfer. There will be a registry,” Silver said.

If you care to read a few words out of that “little book”, as CNN’s Piers Morgan recently described it, you will find the Constitution was written solely to form a government so that we might enjoy the blessings of liberty. That government was designed from the bottom up with limited powers in order to protect the rights the Creator gives to all humans by right of birth, rights that exist outside of any government.

Members of the media understand that a free press is essential to preserve liberty and protect the country from a government run amok. What member of the media would have said we must preserve the First Amendment just in case some future president attempts to subvert the electoral process or we need to publish some classified Pentagon papers about a costly war? Previously the First was best known for shielding the publishing of pornography. Yet if it had not been for the reporting of Woodward and Burstein during the Watergate coverup, or Daniel Ellsberg’s publishing of a classified study about the Vietnam War who knows what other outrages would have followed?

The right to freely publish expression in speech, media and in internet commentary is such a precious component of protecting our liberties from a government run amok that it is my duty to pass the First Amendment on to my grandchildren just in case some future outrage threatens the country.

Similarly, just because I may not need to fully exercise the pre-existing rights recognized in the Second Amendment that doesn’t relieve me of the duty and obligation to pass those rights fully and unencumbered to my grandchildren just in case they must exercise them to protect their liberty.

The truth is that nobody can know how or why some future government will attempt to break free of the powers the Constitution limits it to, nor how it may abuse the enumerated powers it clearly has. So while I may not really need this particular style of rifle at this moment anymore than I really need 30, 10, or even five or six pages of Husler Magazine. I am obligated to make sure my children and grandchildren can freely exercise those very same rights or else I have not been a good citizen, nor even a good parent.

Unfortunately for those of us trapped upstate, 3 or 4 people jerk our chains. What do Chuck Schumer, Sheldon Silver, Randi Weingarten, et al have in common? Besides calling Andy’s shots? NYC uber upstate, just so you don’t imply any racism. That’s what we’re up against.

It’s a good thing this proposed law was not in effect in Newtown... if it was, Adam Lanza would *REALLY* be in trouble now!

The majority of NY Republicans are RINOS, so it shouldn’t be surprising that RINO Republicans side with the Democrats, on many issues. All RINOS everywhere, seriously and successfully, need to be kicked out of the GOP, at each and every political level and as soon as possible, if U.S. conservatism is going to survive, for the long-term!

I am so pissed off at this moment..... I fought this from happening all friking day. We didn’t stand a chance. The agenda was set by Prince Andrew and all fell in line. The republicans committed suicide today.

NY is toast now. Another wasted day expending all my energies on another issue where our elected representatives stuck their middle finger right in our faces.

The cold of Valley Forge with no shoes and rags to cover bleeding feet didn’t stop patriots willing to give themselves for the cause of freedom.

I repeat, Hey New York, is it too cold for your big fat asses?

Per the New York Senate website, the limitation of 7 rounds in a magazine is being addressed by grandfathering 10-round magazines possessed up to 90 days after the bill becomes law. However, you can have no more than 7 rounds in the magazine on the 91st day onward.

They want to ban guns - and that’s what they are going to do.

Doesn’t matter how you phrase yourself.
Doesn’t matter what your arguments are.
Doesn’t matter what facts you present.

They want to ban guns and that’s what they are going to do.

That was my point.

Here, here! Well said.

Hey, New York! Those brave patriots before you fought for their freedom!! Dammit, where the hell are you and what are you doing to stop these treasonous bastards from taking your right, your guns, your ammo away from you??????

After 9/11, you had the guts and the fortitude to work together and clean up and rebuild, and then we went to war with the muzzie enemy. Where are you now???? Hey, New York firemen, ironworkers, New York police officers, where are you??? We cheered for you all after 9/11 and the hard and hazardous work you were doing, and now????? If your unions are holding you back, the hell with them. Your freedom and liberty, your rights under the Constitution are more important than a damn union. Where are you men and women who parents, grandparents, great-grandparents emigrated from Holland, Italy, Eastern Europe in order to find freedom and opportunity, who gazed fondly at the Statue of Liberty and thanked God that they had made the trip safely, and that their children and themselves would have an opportunity to make a good life. And now, for what??? So you can sit back, do nothing, and let the socialists/marxist/communists walk their jackboots over you and your rights, and you don't do a damn thing about it???

Hey, New York, You're strong and you who love the Constitution, our Liberty and Freedom MUST STAND UP TO THE THE TYRRANY THAT WILL ENVELOPE YOU IF YOU DO NOTHING.

Remember, Hitler rose to power, because people did NOTHING to stop him. You have your little Hitler's in New York, and you know who they are. What are you going to do about them??? We are behind you...FIGHT, DAMMIT, FIGHT AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND THE REAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

“if the people of NY allow this to transpire, then they no longer deserve to be free.”

I live in NY State. The bastards passed it. There was nothing I could do to stop them. I am outnumbered by NY City area assholes.

I did nothing to elect any of the pukes that voted for this atrocity. I have always, my entire life opposed such measures and such assholes.

My family came to this state in the very early 19th century (before 1810). They came from Massachusetts, where they had helped defeat the British during the revolution.

I am pissed off beyond your limited ability to comprehend.

And now you say I no longer deserve to be free? Because I live in NY and somehow “allowed” this to happen?

You are indeed a foolish and narrow minded twit.

Go screw yourself.

How ironic. I wonder if any of Schumer, Bloomburg, Silver or Weinstein’s relatives died in the ovens, in the concentration camps during World War? Are their voices, their souls crying for the evil that these despicable men are attempting to bring about? I would say that the souls of these evil men have been sold to the devil...they do know what they are doing, but the power and greed coursing their their veins blinds them. May they burn in hell, if you New Yorker's don't get to them first.

Thank YOU for the words that grabbed my heart and soul and compelled me to write. I envisioned how those ragged, hungry patriots in the snows of winter, their shoeless, bloodied feet wrapped with rags, no shelter, no food, and George Washington as their leader, the very good man that he was. I’ve read their history many times, I’ve read many books on George Washington, and I am inflamed at what is happening to us.

What will it take for New Yorker’s to take a stand? Do we need to take out a billboard ad reminding them of their heritage? How brave and united they were during 9/11? And that they CAN DO IT AGAIN!

Any ideas, anyone?

Silver is a liberal fascist. Besides that, he’s crazy.

Typical New York political leftist - God’s curse on the East Coast.

California’s Left is God’s curse on the West Coast, with little curses of Portland and Seattle.

If sane New Yorkers unite, they defeat this POS, but they have to act now and decisively. They must make every election a fight to the death against the Left, and sue whenever they can on ever major issue out there.

They are going to need a lot of legal help so conservative legal groups and individual attorneys need to help them, now, not later.

Use the law to defeat the lawless!

# 67:If you are talking about Silver, no. He’s a KAPO, a traitor to his own people, and to all the decent people of New York.

See my post following this about the idea re #62 and wearing a Yellow Star.

Absolutely a great idea. A large yellow Jewish Star with the words Gun Owner in the middle of it.

I’d buy a couple. Seems my relatives in Austria didn’t have any guns and ended up dead in Auschwitz.

For me, lesson learned. For liberal Jews, lessons are never learned. Write them off because we cannot deal with their kind of insanity and inaninity.

Work on the moderates/conservatives and the Orthodox.

We also need a great big poster of NY Assembly Speaker Silver with the word “KAPO” written on his forehead.

The man is a disgrace but he has so much company from Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Chicago that if they made a movie about Democrat “speakers, leaders, etc”., it would be entitled “A Band of Lunatics”.

Use Saul Alinsky’s tactics against them - RIDICULE.

Use your imagination. The possibilities are unlimited, and we have lots of paper and ink.
