CURL: Obama supporters shocked, angry at new tax increases
The Washington Times online ^ | Sunday, January 6, 2013 | Joseph Curl

Sometimes, watching a Democrat learn something is wonderful, like seeing the family dog finally sit and stay at your command.

With President Obama back in office and his life-saving “fiscal cliff” bill jammed through Congress, the new year has brought a surprising turn of events for his sycophantic supporters.

“What happened that my Social Security withholding’s in my paycheck just went up?” a poster wrote on the liberal site DemocraticUnderground.com. “My paycheck just went down by an amount that I don’t feel comfortable with. I guarantee this decrease is gonna’ hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over 400 grand. What happened?”

Shocker. Democrats who supported the president’s re-election just had NO idea that his steadfast pledge to raise taxes meant that he was really going to raise taxes. They thought he planned to just hit those filthy “1 percenters,” you know, the ones who earned fortunes through their inventiveness and hard work. They thought the free ride would continue forever.

To #3: Re “These idiots are truly one sandwich short of a picnic.”

Do, don’t agree. You can have a picnic without sandwiches.

These idiots have set their picnic in the middle of a Fire Ant nest and they are getting the asses bitten by their own friends.

Sometimes you’d better read about the issues before you vote, Odumbos. Or, like these picnickers, they are going to get bitten bigtime on the buns and they are not Hot Dog Buns.

As the Fire Ants would say in this situation, “Bon Appetit”.

They’ll soon find that their hard-earned EBT dollars don’t buy as many Skittles and Arizona Teas as they used to

Could you explain that please? EBT dollars are not earned. They are given to the takers.

Tax increases do not necessarily mean higher prices for Skittles and Arizona Tea. There's really no connection.

There are more ways to earn profit than by trading your time for money. The rich people realized this early, and acted on the knowledge.

The libs are in for a rude awakening. This is just the first week. 2013 is going to be the year of big tax increases.

And 2013 is just the first of four more years of it. Does anyone really think that there will be no further tax increases?

This is an excellent opportunity!

A whole new wave of Obama supporters still don’t even know: They’ll get their first 2013 paychecks on the 15th of the month. So when you’re shooting the breeze in the lunchroom with your grumbling co-workers on the 16th, just ask them, “Who’d you vote for in November?” When they say Mr. Obama, just tell them: “Well, you got what you voted for. You did know he was going to raise taxes, right?”

Many libs aren't stupid - they simply don't think about this stuff as much as FReepers do. They let the MSM do their thinking for them.

This is a great opportunity to get them thinking about the right issues and perhaps vote more intelligently next time.

We must convert people to win elections!

The FICA/Payroll/SS tax.

When you define taxes that go up automatically by law as raising taxes by those in office you fall into this trap.

Obama abandoned the Dem demand to extend these early on. He was re-elected and doesnt need these anymore.

"the new year has brought a surprising turn of events for his sycophantic supporters...."

.... Strangely .... the Liberals really don't have anything to fear about this turn of events. They always have a formulaic response to pretty much anything that comes their way.

..... All the Liberal Socialists have to do to avert a catastrophic perception amongst their supporters is to divert and direct their anger towards a scapegoat .... a successful tactic that has been used for thousands of years. Of course we all know who the scapegoats will be!! Heck we're all sitting here reading this aren't we!?!?? .... but for some miraculous reason ... the recipients of the directive attack never see it coming ... even though the tactic has been the same for thousands of years. AND ... even though this tactic has been used for so long ... they know full well that their opponents don't have the mental wherewithal to protect themselves from this millenia old tactic. Heck we all know that the old saying is true .... ""... you can't teach an old dog new tricks."

..... HA .... go figure eh.

That payroll tax cut was SUPPOSE to be temporary. It was put in place for 2 years so that people would have a little more money to spend. Some say to stimulate the economy. Apparently people receiving it didn’t notice otherwise they would not be complaining that it’s gone. That tax break was a very small percent.

I don’t understand why anyone who voted for Obama esp because they said he would continue the Bill Clinton years for them should complain. That means they SHOULD have accepted the Bush tax cuts to expire for everyone and phase back the Clinton tax rates. That little payroll tax break is nothing in comparison.

Fiscal Cliff included expiration of Bush tax cuts, the payroll tax cut expiring, and sequestration (automatic cuts).

The media made many believe that if we only tax those making 200K and above we would have avoided the fiscal cliff. Um that amount of revenue would only pay for 8 days of the spending they have now and yes they are spending on borrowed money, money they don’t have: a credit card so to speak. That 200K break was only to avoid the expiration of the Bush tax cuts “part” of the Fiscal Cliff. It does not and never was intended to address sequestration or the automatic cuts. Many of the MSM lied to you about that. I believe some in Congress and the President “have” agreed in the recent past to reform the tax code further to cover those making 200K or more but that this could not be done by the end of 2012. Some argue it should be 100K or more. So enjoy your tax break for 2013. Next year will be different.

The automatic cuts will happen if the current government cannot “balance” the budget. The pass 4 years they operated on “no” budget because they could not agree to one. This should be interesting to see how they are going to fix this.

Some who voted for Obama say we need to help the poor. Put your money where your mouth is then. Congress did pass a law allowing people to voluntarily pay more taxes. When Obamacare phases in citizens who previously did not have health insurance will have to buy it. Those in a lower income level will quality for Medicaid whereas before they could not. So we will have “free” healthcare for some. Hehe I just said that to be funny. Of source it’s not free. When the need for spending goes up the working class will have to pay for it.

A sad part about Obamacare is those currently working 40 hours a week will be cut to 30 hours a week so their employer would not (some could not pay) have to pay them health care benefits. The um Federal government will be able to help them with subsidies but with 30 hours a week they won’t be able to pay the rent. Nevertheless a number of them voted for this current government and wanted what they can get from it. I didn’t vote for it.

All I can say is if you have liberal friends that are now suddenly feeling mugged, DON'T try and get them to go GOP. The Republicans are doing what the Dem;s are doing, only at a slower pace (i.e., creating and keeping a voter base through lesser means).
Its truly time that D.C. be routed of career politicians and this faux "two party" system thwarted. Encourage equality by merit, not by entitlement. D.C. has screwed America long enough and it is high time we live strictly by the Constitution again and as it IS written; not how some slick pol tells us what they think it means. The democrat and republican party's don't serve America, they serve their own party. The quicker American voters realize that, the quicker we can save the country.

I for one am glad the dem's mugged their own voters. The pub's have been mugging conservatives for years as well.

We can all agree that ‘earning a profit’ and ‘working hard’ are most frequently not the same thing.

The party problem derives from the existence of single member districts.

If you were voting for 12 Representatives, or 7 senators at a whack, there'd be many parties. As long as it's just 1 Representative and 1 Senator, you will get no more than 2 serious parties.

That's because to win the candidate must get 50% of the vote plus 1 more vote.

Over time the parties might start to look alike. That, BTW, would be about a week, maybe less.

Hahahahaha. I wonder if they’ve heard that pelosi and the king say that those “revenues” were not going to be enough. They’ll be coming after more of the middle class’s skin soon.
