What we need is a bill that cuts federal spending by 2.5 trillion. Unfortunately we’ll never see more than 1 billion in cuts - backed by a tax increase greater than that!

That’s already the case. Many ranches in Texas are going to be corporations because the families can’t afford the taxes.

Constitution? Dims don't need "no stinkin' constitution."

We should jail the lot of them for violation of.

My employer won’t. I’m sorry but I don’t want to pay another $8,000 a year to the wasteful government.

I already know I’m paying more for Social Security in 2013. I’ll never see it when I retire.

I agree. I was not looking forward to loosing the Bush tax cuts. I can’t afford it either. What amazes me is the freepers here that keep bashing the House. The House submitted a bill, do you really think the dems were ever going to pass anything in the Senate that the House passed. Get real. Obama is in control of the Senate.

I expect the freepers who wanted us to go over the cliff are either independently wealthy or already living off the government. If they are working for a living I’d like them to explain how they were willing to have more of their money taken from them had the cuts been ended.

You’ve fallen into the trap. Why are blaming the GOP and not the Dems?

Exactly. Spot on correct. At the very least this makes Bush tax cuts permanent for most. Win 2014 and 2016 and we can do it for all. I make a good salary but a tax hike will cause me to reign in my discretionary spending. If I do that there are probably millions that will do the same and that kills our investments in the market. I’m freaking tired of market collapses.

The Left plans and is willing to make their moves over the course of time, gradually wedding us to socialism. Our side can’t get 100% of what it wants and we pout, lambaste and fail to recognize incrementalism.

It should be the theme song of the TEA Party for mid-term elections.

“Bull Crap from the MSM. They’re telling us what Oboma wants us to think. WHO said Republicans would be blamed? The LEFT! That doesn’t mean it’s true.”

Why should any Republican care if a fourth generation welfare mother with six children blames them for going over the cliff? She will never vote for them anyway. The same holds true for a tenured college professor, union shop boss, Wall Street lawyer living in Manhattan, 6:00 pm news anchor, or government bureaucrat. These people will blame Republicans for anything they are told to blame Republicans for.

I don’t understand why Republicans fear being hated by people who already hate them. Why compromise on principle when your compromise is neither respected nor recognized as such by your enemy. Just do the right thing for the country and let the chips fall where they may.

I just heard a clip of McConnell on ABC radio news capitulating to Obama’s premise that we should go ahead and extend middle class cuts right away and then haggle over the rest later. Hearing him say that was like the sound of a tree being felled.

What we need is a bill that cuts federal spending by 2.5 trillion.

If the House does nothing (i.e. does NOT raise the debt ceiling), then we will be half way there. Unfortunately, our House Republicans are more than happy to carry Obama's water. It is precisely because of their last $2.5 trillion debt ceiling increase that Obama was able to buy off enough votes to win last November.

If true, then, as usual, the GOPe morons have taken yet another “deal” the Dems will ignore. Dems are lying human scum. Only a real IDIOT would negotiate with human scum expecting them to honor their agreements.

Lucy (Dems) will pull the football (spending cuts) away from Charlie Brown (stupid RINO’s) once more and they are too stupid to even say “Good Grief”.

Boehner, McConnnell, et al are the DUMBEST idiots in politics. The Dems are laughing their butts off over the fact the cowards in the GOP fell for their lies again. Taxes first, which will be spent at 125%+ more than raised (if at all since the “rich” will just not take taxable income) and of course NO SPENDING “cuts” will ever take place. Just smaller increases.

I’m tired of working for the GOP to get a conservative here or there (who all seem to be so spineless they cave to Boehner - come on! How much of a threat is Boehner. Just look terse at him and go “boo” and he’ll hide under his desk and cry) we might as well just get rid of them by staying home.

Wipe out the RINO’s by taking them out of power then start over.

If this is true and it likely is I predict the GOP will lose the House in 2014. So the last 2 years of Barry’s term will be like the first 2 years were. Nazi Pelousy will be telling them to vote for the gun confiscation bill so they can find out what’s in it.

You’ve fallen into the trap.

Hardly

Why are blaming the GOP and not the Dems?

I'm blaming the GOP for going along with the RATS. I'm sick and tired of GOP (and RAT) apparatchiks and their "party before country" mind set. People who think like you are the reason I NEVER joined the GOP, or for that matter the RATS. The lying, thieving politicians of BOTH parties are what got us into this mess in the first place.

Thanks Jake. I was starting to think I was alone in looking at it this way. The GOP is in a no win situation. We all know the socialists are out to destroy us. I’d like to keep working and not depend on the socialists hand outs so I need my taxes to not go up any higher. We will already get an increase through FICA, Medicare and Obamacare, I need the Bush tax cuts to stay in place. The dems aren’t going to cut spending no matter what.

I’d respectfully suggest that your argument has a fatal flaw in it. It asumes that we can win national elections. I dont think we can, and I dont think its because Romney was a bad candidate. I think we could resurrect zombie George Washington, run him, and he’d lose....because the problem is that the takers now officially outnumber the producers.

You are right about incrementalism, but where you lose me is that you seem to now want to surrender another increment. What they are doing, tonight, is trying to gain another increment. The problem I see is that I dont think we can win in 2016, no matter who we run. The solution now is to say no more. Draw the line. Let it burn.

Then, and only then, can we figure out a solution, which probably involves some sort of division. But the age of solving problems with national elections is over, because they’ve figured out that they now have enough “citizens” who suckle at the national teet that they can turn out every 4 years to keep the goodies coming. This stuff going on is window dressing. The more gradual we make the decent into fiscal hell, the harder its going to be to wake up the portion of the population who loves freedom to the fact that we just can’t live with these people any more.

At some point, the Colonists had to decide to toss the damn tea overboard, and accept the consequences. We are there.
