Help! I missed a turn somewhere. I thought the father was found shot dead? Did father survive, or was he never shot at all. What about the guy in the woods, in camouflage, who was taken into custody, heard saying “I didn’t do it”? Who was he?
Also, what about the missing girlfriend and missing best friend? I missed when these announcements were altered. Thank you.

This day journalistic malfeasance was on display like I have never seen before.
Can’t answer all of your questions, but I can answer a few:
1) Father was never shot or injured. He is alive and cooperating with FBI, as is the brother Ryan. Neither he nor the shooter’s brother is suspected of any involvement.
2) missing girlfriend and missing best friend? This was first reported by the AP. There has been no mention of it since. I believe it was first reported when press were still thinking Ryan was the shooter, so it makes the report doubly odd.
3) Can’t answer about guy in woods, but apparently he was not involved because no authority is currently suspecting anybody other than the shooter (that we know of).

This is another Benghazi media fail, another turning point in media crisis reporting, worthy of a congressional investigation. Deplorable and inexcusable.

As for the mother, the first media reports I heard was that the killer went to his mother’s classroom there at the school, making it sound that he killed her along with the children. Then they reported that the mother was killed in her home, so I wondered if there was a substitute in his mother’s class. Last I heard was that the mother was possibly just a substitute teacher and that she may not have had any connection to the school at all. Does anyone know the latest?
