The founders did all they could.

Yes, but to what end? Methinks it was a bit more complicated than you perhaps realize.

They wrote an enduring document that gives us the tools.

Albeit with some serious flaws that threaten us with catastrophic import today.

They cannot make us use the tools.

Sounds eerily like Israel and the Torah, doesn't it?

While I wanted to believe 'this time would be different', it appears mankind is doomed to repeat the same mistakes, cyclically, in perpetuity.
