Posted on 12/05/2012 12:27:56 PM PST by Brown Deer
It is symptomatic of the national condition of the United States that the worst humiliation ever suffered by it as a nation, and by a US president personally, passed almost without comment last week. I refer to the November 20 announcement at a summit meeting in Phnom Penh that 15 Asian nations, comprising half the world's population, would form a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership excluding the United States.
President Barack Obama attended the summit to sell a US-based Trans-Pacific Partnership excluding China. He didn't. The American led-partnership became a party to which no-one came.
Instead, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, plus China, India, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, will form a club and leave out the United States. As 3 billion Asians become prosperous, interest fades in the prospective contribution of 300 million Americans - especially when those Americans decline to take risks on new technologies. America's great economic strength, namely its capacity to innovate, exists mainly in memory four years after the 2008 economic crisis...

Obama fails again, how UNEXPECTED!
Heap the humiliation on, I don’t mind, I don’t consider him representative of the US regardless of his office.
The world LOVES us now, right?
Why would they want us?
We’re a nation of moochers with very little to offer them.
Years from now, people will look back at this time period and it will all seem so stark — so obvious. But, at least officially, we don’t see any of it. Everything is good. Economy going great. President very popular. Everything under control. Not a cloud in the sky, eh?
That's the headline I'd like to read!
Obama must be thrilled that he is burying us even faster than he could have dreamed!
Why shouldn't they? The US today has a toxic, obscene, sex obsessed culture. It has become an untrustworthy ally and an impotent foe. We borrow money we have no intention of ever paying off and we just elected baracka claus as our president.
I wouldn't invite America to join my club either.
***the worst humiliation ever suffered by it as a nation, and by a US president personally,***
Worse than when Clinton was offered McDonald burgers in Europe?
The world LOVES Obama, for what he represents: A USA put in its place in a new ordering of importance. This I base on my conversations with “folks” outside the US who LOVE Obama.
Indonesia hates Obama? Say it isn’t so.
For the first time I am ashamed to be an American. Greatest sense of foreboding.......
After the election I literally unbolted the brass flag bracket on my front porch. Don’t feel much like flying the colors right now.
Is calling these eight years the “New Dark
ROLL out the HA-HA gif
Hell, the bamaClaus sheeple would demand Moochelle be installed to finish the job.
Pretend you’re from an Asian nation, looking at the US. Would you want us in your club?
If you said yes, you’re not looking hard enough. Take off the rose colored glasses and look again.
Right you are. Obama is piling success on success. The US is failing and Obama is doing all he can to speed up the timetable.
Not with Obama in power. I lived in Asia. They aren’t backward.
We have leadership that promotes the idea that innovation and success needs to be limited, controlled and punished. Leadership prefers that mediocrity rules the day and anyone who wants to go beyond it are put in their place and punished. Society chose BHO and Society chose class envy over wanting to improve life for those who are not well off.
You first must have shame to be humiliated...
The modern ChiCom brand of communism has produced more prosperity and less poverty than BO’s brand.
soetoro praises allah
Gee...no need to tell us this on the net...we’ve heard all about it on ABCCBSNBCMSNBCCNN...NYT, WaPo...
The Romans didn’t think the Goths were a serious threat, either.
Our poor nation of foolish greedy children...we will all suffer for their folly.
I believe Obama may enjoy that.
“America’s great economic strength, namely its capacity to innovate, exists mainly in memory”...
With a special thanks to the “turd in charge” for making us so...
This is a HUGE story. Obama not only fails in the PAcific, but the course for China’s rise to replace America in the Pacific has been charted , and thats a fact.
Our surrender monkey POSHITUS has yet agaion presided over a military and economic retreat from our former allies. This I and other predicted , once the woprld saw the betrayal Obama perpetrated, of US allies Libya and Egypt.Upon seeing that betrayal by Obama, Asian nations undestandably did not want THAT fox in their chicken coups,
all of which have Muslim populations.Themessage was sent loudly and cl;early, EFF OBAMA!
I hope OZ can join in with these nations.
I imagine when China starts playing hardball with the U.S. on trade, the debt, Taiwan, etc. it would make it more difficult for them if they were “allies” with us in this Pacific group.
The question is if there will be an actual President that will stand up to those countries? That is, someone willing to instill a sense of fear in Third World nations - instead of someone too willing to be subservient to them?
If it means that the US causes some offense to these countries as a result, fine. It’s not the job of the US to please the persistently unwilling.
The question then becomes:
When will the US have a President that will act with strength and courage instead of subservience and cowardice?
The US still has the PRC by the short hairs, and should have them for quite a while longer.
If they want to try playing hardball, it will not go well with the public - for any public official going along with China would end up losing an election.
Now if Nixon hadn’t opened the dialogue with China in the first place, or had the US decided to use Tiananmen Square as an opportunity to replace a (still) despotic regime, the problem wouldn’t be as bad as it is now. However, the US decided on appeasement and this is the consequence.
The United States is currently a kakistocracy.
ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF)
The ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) is a key forum for security dialogue in Asia. It draws together 27 countries which have a bearing on the security of the Asia Pacific region.
Background to the ASEAN Regional Forum
The ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) was established in 1994. It comprises 27 countries the 10 ASEAN member states (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) the 10 ASEAN dialogue partners (Australia, Canada, China, the EU, India, Japan, New Zealand, ROK, Russia and the United States), one ASEAN observer (PNG) as well as the DPRK, Mongolia, Pakistan, Timor-Leste, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
The ARF is a key forum for security dialogue in Asia, complementing the various bilateral alliances and dialogues. It provides a setting in which members can discuss current regional security issues and develop cooperative measures to enhance peace and security in the region.
So what’s going on? Did the US get the proverbial boot?
“America’s great economic strength, namely its capacity to innovate, exists mainly in memory four years after the 2008 economic crisis...”
Huh? What is this moron talking about?
Globally, Google Android has a 61% share of the global smartphone market and Apple has a 20% share. Android has a 53% share of the American smartphone market, while Apple iPhone controls 24%. Korea’s Samsung is making a play for the low-cost cell phone market in Asia, but it will take a huge hit as new Asian players are about to offer better deals. Furthermore, Apple has inked a deal with China Mobile and its 700 million subscribers to probably offer a cheap iPhone.
Capacity to innovate...my a$$.
There tis, thanks. Priceless, she does have an attitude, rofl.
Ahhh, Moochelle with her standard “I hate everything that does not praise me” face.
