CORAL GABLES, Fla. Now that the Obama and Romney campaigns have closed their headquarters in Chicago and Boston, the attention of the political world is shifting to an office suite tucked behind the colonnades of the Biltmore Hotel complex here.
The suite is where former Gov. Jeb Bush manages his consulting business, his education foundation and, now, the (very) early decision-making process for a possible presidential run in 2016.

As I told my friend on November 7th.. I would not vote for Jeb Bush if he were the Messiah. We got into a huge fight and needless to say she is no longer my friend,
Hell to the no.
Forget it, but then I say this about all of them right about now. I’m in no mood and I’m highly suspicious of anyone willing to jump into this viper pit. Why would they want to do it after observing what happened to all the Republicans in the primaries and then Romney in the general? FORGET IT!!!
not interested
Actually, there is such a fellow: about 8 years ago my son did a highschool mini camp to experience the US military. A descendent, also named Calvin Coolidge was in charge.Really nice guy.
Gee the New York Times encouraging Jeb Bush to run. Seems like a trustworthy source for conservatives.
Sums up my reaction. Screw RINO Jeb!
There are much much much mucho mucho mucho better Latino candidistas than this sorry arse RINO.
Par examplar, Marcosio Rubirubiosio!
Siempre conservatorre mi amigo.
Never. He let Terri Schiavo be assassinated in his state.
Not a single word about policy.
Enough of this RINO crap. For the 2016 GOP candidate, I nominate the M134 Minigun.
I would take a descendant of Silent Cal over a Dynasty.
Indeed.
This is the Rhino in the living room that everybody is ignoring.
Repubs will run a young half black/half Latino transvestite
that will travel around throwing out condoms and ebt cards, cry on Oprah to show they care. Thats what it looks like to me.
As Jesse Jackson said, “Keep out, the Bushes”. Go away, especially the liberal, one world, open border CONSERVATIVE ? GO AWAY BUSH !
In a way Jeb running could be a good thing. Why? Because when the ventual nominee beats him in the primary they can turn to the country and credibly say they’re not just a repeat of W, not just another Bush. That in fact, they took on and defeated the Bushes and they’re ready to move forward with something new.
the same thing helped Obama in 2008. By beating the Clintons he credibly presented himself as something new and not just a rehash of the 90s.
I hope Jeb does run because his defeat will finally let the GOP put the Bushes behind them and move forward with something new.
True, they have a history of winning the WH. They also have a history of then screwing things up so bad that the Dems win 2 more terms. Also have a history of leading the country into huge recessions that ruin the GOP for years to come. Also have a history of appointing “unknowns” to the SC who end up betraying conservatives in the worst way possible. See Souter being the decisive vote upholding Roe v Wade and Roberts being the decisive vote upholding Obamacare/
I’ll pass
The question for us FReepers is whether or not FR will have a JebBushTruthfile, JimRob will loudly proclaim that he’d never endorse such a RINO, and then after he gets the nomination, FR/JimRob endorses the CINO.
What does anyone see in Jeb Bush that makes them think he could turn this country around? I just don’t see that in him. I saw it in Mitt Romney and to me I think Romney would be much better and have a much better chance of pulling this country out of it’s death spiral. He is a proven business and financial leader. He was a successful governor of a state that led the nation in education. He balanced his budgets and worked across the isle to get things done. Jeb Bush’s Florida on the other hand, still can’t carry out elections in an orderly and legal way without having lawsuits over missing ballot boxes and 100+ turnout in various counties. Florida’s election system and it’s personnel are disgraces. Jeb Bush??? That doesn’t even get my engine to lukewarm. Someone better has to emerge and maybe Romney will give it another go, or Sarah Palin, etc.. Someone must rise to the challenge.
Versus Hilary Clinton.
To be followed by George P. Bush versus Chelsea Clinton.
To be followed by Michelle Obama versus some relative of the Bushes.
No thank you to Jeb.
I agree with you. Hispanics love Jeb. And that might be enough to win all those battleground states, especially Florida.
RINO File.
BTW, if Jebbie B. runs for POTUS and then loses, IT WILL TRULY BE ‘BUSH’S FAULT.’
The GOP-e just doesn’t want my vote.
Hispanics could care less about Jeb or little Jorge. They are and ever will be democrats.
“Republican bigwigs announce the anointing of Jeb Bush, and CBS now projects Hillary Clinton (or insert any democrat name) as the winner of the 2016 election!”
Stay out da Bushes!!
Hey may want to check out cryogenics .
It’s gonna be at least 100 years before he has a chance.
That is true, actually the last 2!!
The smoke-filled room has moved to semi-secret meetings of money men, four years before the election. The primaries are only for show.
We’re doomed.
Under no circumstance will I vote for Jeb Bush, or any other Bush. No royal families. Sorry, you Bush’s got your share already.
Jeb bush refused to save the life of Terri Schiavo. I will never forget.
All he did was ask the judge to stop the murder. When the judge refused, Jeb curled up on the floor and sucked his thumb.
I’m interested in the idea, though I have to be honest I’m not sure how much help I could be.
I think I'd be far closer to silent Cal than most -- the sad thing is that people are so dumbed-down/hyped-up they can't think straight on this simple question: what is the legitimate role of federal government as defined by the Constitution? (i.e. "what is the federal government authorized?")
{Look at how many people think the President can "create"/"destroy" jobs; or make laws; or how many think "the Constitution is what the Supreme Court says it is"; or how many people think that inflation is caused by companies; or how many people think that we have a national constitution?}
No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!
Never Ever will I vote for a Bush. We don’t want a royal family. The Kennedy family was enough.
Unless the Repubs change their nomination process, the liberal media will greatly influence their candidate selection.
No, no a thousand, million, BILLION times NO.
Do you realize that the last time the winning Republican ticket did not include Nixon or a Bush was when H.Hoover won in 1933?
I find that to be an astonishing fact and struggle to come up with an explanation for it. I would say it proves that only hard right wingers can win but the Bushes were really RINOS with that “kinder and gentler conservatism” that brought tax hikes and out of control spending, between the two of course.
1928, not 1933.
Maybe he could takd his old lady and run for President of Mexico!!!
He should leave and quit poluting the US!
Yeah, I fell for some of the Romney as the candidate who can best win stuff because I figured that Romney would win over middle of the road voters in swing states.
But Romney got completely defined as an old rich and out of touch guy quickly. So the middle took the young, hip Obama. And I also think the middle has moved left on social issues.
Whoever we nominate in 2016, I want them to be under the age of 48. I think our only chance is to find a younger, articulate person that will appeal to a new generation. Certainly not Jeb.
Frankly, I think Coolidge is grossly underrated.
Reading through the replies on this thread, I have only this observation:
Four years ago, we were saying the same things about Mitt Romney. And in the end, most of those who were doing the big talking surrendered.
Voting for the “R” was more important than conservatism. Will we learn, or will we never leave the Grand Old Plantation?
My apology for the error and thank you for the correction. Sure would be good to get that 88(will be) year old monkey off our backs in 2016.
But if we have to win with a Bush I will take it.The Repubs are sooooo lost right now.
