Atheist Group Backs Parents Who Are Upset School Wants To Take Kids To See Charlie Brown Christmas At Church
This 1965 cartoon is too “extreme” for today’s progressives.
I detest militant atheists but there is no reason Christmas should be celebrated in public schools or Yom Kippur or Satan’s birthday, or Ramadan.
Religious holidays are wonderful. Celebrate them at home in church or temple but not in the public schools.
Well, what’s their problem? I personally have no problem attending other religions services respectfully, seeing what they’re all about then walk home still the same religion afterwards. I don’t see why these atheists can’t at least do the same. Combine that with the fact that I grew up with an atheist Dad, and still chose Christianity. There’s not a threat to seeing something related to other religions, in fact, it’s a good opportunity to understand and discuss afterwards.
They need to have the stigma of "murdering atheists" attached to them.
Fire at will.
This country is going to hell in a hand basket with each passing day. These jackasses are taking over the country..first they make Santa Monica take down the Nativity scene and now this..how the hell are these cockroaches aloud to have so much power

I'm with you. This crap should have been slapped down right at the beginning. As it is, people humored it, and now they have the upper hand.
Should be taking the kids to see “Charlie Brown joins jihad”. Then nobody would have uttered a word of protest.
Or do; what many parents feel inclined to do; if not forced; when their values clash with those proscribed by public education 'group think'. Go the full nine yards and Home School. Whereby; you are FREE, totally; to protect your child's atheism from 'undo' influences/covert 'values'; etc.; as might be found in a Charlie Brown Christmas. . .viewed in a Church; yet.
Too bad; but they should be thanking the Church; for teaching the very tolerance they demand and get from 'non-atheists; versus that which they offer to those 'Faithful'; whom they refuse, by turn; to tolerate.
Where do these people think 'Value' and Virtue (and yes, that virtue of 'Tolerance') came from? An athiest?
I feel so blessed that I grew up when I did.
You said the Pledge Of Allegiance. You prayed. You celebrated holidays. No controversy.
I recently read that certain groups deemed Charlie Brown as too violent. Alrighty then. Let’s look at what they watch now.
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Children shouldn’t be pulled out of school to go to a church and view an overtly religious program.
When I was a kid we learned about Christmas in school. It didn’t harm anyone. It was my favorite time of year (I hated school) and I wasn’t raised to believe in God and my parents never thought it a terrible thing that I was taught about Christmas.
These atheists are fiends in human form.

There is no such thing as "values neutral". And by NOT mentioning Christmas, it is a purposeful action. It is not neutral. How about kids learning about Christmas and Hanukkah. What's wrong with that? And no wiccan crap, either. (pardon language, my tolerance went away.)

Wouldn’t it be less expensive to rent the DVD?
Oh, criminy! Ir as the article shows, Good Grief! Can we get Linus to use his blanket as a sling so he can knock out these bozos and feed them to the Kite Eating Tree. Better yet, let Snoopy use them for target practice in his Sopwith Camel. Good Grief!
BTW, when I was in grade school, we watched it every year. The teacher wheeled out the TV, usually black and white and we used a Sony 1 inch video tape reel-to-reel helical scanning recorder (VTR). This was 1973 to 1979 although we were starting to get color TV’s by 1977 but the VTR was black and white only. We saw a lot of other Peanuts specials too.
