Atheist Group Backs Parents Who Are Upset School Wants To Take Kids To See Charlie Brown Christmas At Church
This 1965 cartoon is too “extreme” for today’s progressives.
I detest militant atheists but there is no reason Christmas should be celebrated in public schools or Yom Kippur or Satan’s birthday, or Ramadan.
Religious holidays are wonderful. Celebrate them at home in church or temple but not in the public schools.
Well, what’s their problem? I personally have no problem attending other religions services respectfully, seeing what they’re all about then walk home still the same religion afterwards. I don’t see why these atheists can’t at least do the same. Combine that with the fact that I grew up with an atheist Dad, and still chose Christianity. There’s not a threat to seeing something related to other religions, in fact, it’s a good opportunity to understand and discuss afterwards.
They need to have the stigma of "murdering atheists" attached to them.
Fire at will.
Guess you never read George Washington or Samuel Adams words.
Shove your secularist point of view and comparisons with satan.
I'll not post more lest I get banned for the opinion I hold of your insulting diatribe.
Go to Du fool.
Ah , PEANUTS !!!!!
This country is going to hell in a hand basket with each passing day. These jackasses are taking over the country..first they make Santa Monica take down the Nativity scene and now this..how the hell are these cockroaches aloud to have so much power
That reason is called the First Amendment.
Specifically:
(Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,) or prohibiting the free exercise thereof
You two are the best FR has to offer.
Kudos and MERRY CHRISTmas to you!
We grew up celebrating them in school. What has changed?
Ahhhhh....Little Rock.....Home of the “Bill Clinton Adultery Tour”. Water available at all 234 stops!
Thank you so much I appreciate that..MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone here, and Happy Chanukkah to my Jewish friends(I’m Jewish but I love Christmas) in fact, during the holiday season I always say “Merry Christmas” I don’t say “Happy Holidays” that’s something that liberals want people to say I refuse to say it
They are emboldened now that the marxist in chief has stolen the election, no more mister nice guy here, this is war."
I'm with you. This crap should have been slapped down right at the beginning. As it is, people humored it, and now they have the upper hand.
God bless you, Sarah Barracuda! Happy Chanukkah to you (even though it’s early).
May the Great I Am bless you and your family.
Should be taking the kids to see “Charlie Brown joins jihad”. Then nobody would have uttered a word of protest.
Bunch of Grinches....
Well if Christmas is to be celebrated in public school then I hope you won’t object to your child also celebrating a few major Hindu, Wiccan, Muslim, and Voodoo holy days as well.
Scenario. Kid comes home from school. Wow mom look at the picture I drew today. See, this is the Voodoo priestess praying to the goddess. Uh huh. We learned all about it cause today is a big holy day for the religion of Voodoo.
And we even had like pretend magic potions to drink and we danced all around too. It was fun mom!
Scenario two. Hi dad I had fun at school today. Today is an Islamic holiday. So instead of Arithmetic we saw cartoon of this kid who went on a pilgrimage to this place were thousands of Muslims pray to the Holy Rock. I prayed to the rock too but I was pretending.....kinda like.
Merry Christmas to you(Even though its early :-) and have a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving
That's what I liked about the movie The Princess and the Frog. It drove home in no uncertain terms that messing with Voodoo was evil and destructive.
What has changed? We should not have been celebrating Christmas in the public schools in the first place, What about the Jewish kids, And the Jehovah’s Witness? Were their beliefs celebrated?
Those were the days of Christian privilege. Yes “privilege” is the proper description. Those days are fading.
Don’t get me wrong. I will fight to the death for religious freedom. But taxpayer money should not be spent for the promotion of ANY religion. This in my mind protects Christian kids from the above scenarios. YOUR kids should learn about their faith from YOU or at church. Your job is to see to it. It is not the job of the public schools to foster religion of any kind.
Or do; what many parents feel inclined to do; if not forced; when their values clash with those proscribed by public education 'group think'. Go the full nine yards and Home School. Whereby; you are FREE, totally; to protect your child's atheism from 'undo' influences/covert 'values'; etc.; as might be found in a Charlie Brown Christmas. . .viewed in a Church; yet.
Too bad; but they should be thanking the Church; for teaching the very tolerance they demand and get from 'non-atheists; versus that which they offer to those 'Faithful'; whom they refuse, by turn; to tolerate.
Where do these people think 'Value' and Virtue (and yes, that virtue of 'Tolerance') came from? An athiest?
I feel so blessed that I grew up when I did.
You said the Pledge Of Allegiance. You prayed. You celebrated holidays. No controversy.
I recently read that certain groups deemed Charlie Brown as too violent. Alrighty then. Let’s look at what they watch now.
One crazy atheist got rid of prayer in public schools. My teachers read the Bible to us each morning and we prayed. We pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. We sang God Bless America. We didn’t need “resource officers” (cops) in our schools. We didn’t have metal detectors. Not one girl in my high school ended up pregnant. Now we have day care centers in high schools for students’ babies. My church started by holding services in my elementary school on Sundays. We had fish on Fridays at school for the Catholic kids and no one complained.
It is people like you who have helped destroy America with your “fairness” crap. America was built by Christians on Christian values! You can’t change the facts.
But Obama was right, wasn’t he. America is no longer a Christian nation. And it shows!
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
I agree w/ you completely! I am an agnostic, but I remember the charm of our Christmas pageants in school and in elementary school I was in the choir & we would sing “Let There be Peace on Earth” & other songs. We had an innocence back then.
I would not give it back for anything. I have to say “A Charlie Brown Christmas” makes me cry like a baby. My husband got me the complete Charlie Brown holiday DVD gift box a few years ago.
And that is PRECISELY where I cry when I watch it.
I spent of today helping a friend decorate for “Christmas” in her home and we both agreed that this is one of the most wonderful time of the year! Merry Christmas to my dear FR friends!
Please remember the reason for the season!
God Bless America !
Thank you. :)
You gotta admit that the children's exposure to world religions would teach them some morality (except islam) and would certainly consume all or most of their classroom time thus depriving them of the hideous socialist indoctrination they are currently getting.
Children shouldn’t be pulled out of school to go to a church and view an overtly religious program.
Here’s how I see it. If a child wants to pray over her lunch at school during lunch hour, say a Catholic making the sign of the cross and quietly praying. That is a first amendment right. But that is entirely different from taking a whole class to a movie that has for it’s theme a Christian Holy Day. They need to be learning to read, write and spell, not having parties.
You take your kid to that movie! You teach your child about Christ and Christmas. That is Your job not a public school teachers job.
I feel sorry for the kids today, they do not realize what it was like in my generation growing up in the 50’s and 60’s.... Celebrating Christmas in school and a nativity scene on the school property and not even being aware that some people might be offended! Where has our Christian nation gone?
Merry Christmas to all! May God Bless American again soon....
Oh, you want them to get an education!
You'd have to send them to a Catholic school for that.
**tears**
Wonderful post.
When I was a kid we learned about Christmas in school. It didn’t harm anyone. It was my favorite time of year (I hated school) and I wasn’t raised to believe in God and my parents never thought it a terrible thing that I was taught about Christmas.
These atheists are fiends in human form.
Would that we could again have a country in which such a cartoon could be broadcast again on a major network, in prime time, and there wouldn’t be an uproar over it.
Go bad to the KOS and DU dummies
FR is a site for God, Country and Constitution.
PS, luv ya lj....gonna look up " A Charlie Brown Christmas" and watch it on the tube~
From Wikipedia
Network executives were not happy with several aspects of the show, forcing Schulz to wage some serious battles to preserve his vision. The executives didnt want to have Linus reciting the story of the birth of Christ from the Gospel of Luke; the network orthodoxy of the time assumed that viewers would not want to sit through passages of the King James Version of the Bible. But Schulz was adamant about keeping this scene in, remarking that If we dont tell the true meaning of Christmas, who will?
I did not have a happy childhood but I remember with extreme fondness the every Christmas watching of “Amahl and the Night Visitors”. Touched my heart deeply. I haven’t seen it in decades, never saw the Charlie Brown one.
Even doing the Christmas decorations at school was such a happy time for me, all other memories of school (other than the last day before summar vacation) were so unpleasant. I had to be dragged to school...

There is no such thing as "values neutral". And by NOT mentioning Christmas, it is a purposeful action. It is not neutral. How about kids learning about Christmas and Hanukkah. What's wrong with that? And no wiccan crap, either. (pardon language, my tolerance went away.)

Wouldn’t it be less expensive to rent the DVD?
Until very recently no one ever thought there was anything wrong with mention of Christmas or God in public schools. Only because of secular humanism/marxism is God taken out of schools. And since 85% or more of the US population celebrates Christmas, I don’t see why dragging in Satan and Ramadan is relevant. Actually Ramadan and other Islmic crap is shoved down kids’ throats in schools all over, and atheists never say a word.
Odd how secular leftists luv Islam. I guess the dominance, violence and hatred just naturally attract them.
Oh, criminy! Ir as the article shows, Good Grief! Can we get Linus to use his blanket as a sling so he can knock out these bozos and feed them to the Kite Eating Tree. Better yet, let Snoopy use them for target practice in his Sopwith Camel. Good Grief!
