The IDF's pounding of Hamas' infrastructure in Gaza entered its fourth day Saturday, and is deemed as highly successful until this point.
The Hamas government headquarters, which housed Gaza "prime minister" Ismail Haniyeh's offices, were leveled to the ground. In addition, "security compounds, tunnels and electricity transformers" were hit, according to Al Jazeera. "Missiles also knocked out five electricity transformers, plunging more than 400,000 people into darkness, according to the Gaza electricity distribution company," the news network reported.
The government has approved the call-up of 75,000 reservists and massed troops, tanks and armored vehicles along the border with Gaza, signaling a ground invasion could be imminent.
The IDF's attacks from air and sea have been very accurate, and attempts to minimize civilian deaths have also been relatively successful, although with Hamas, one never knows when a family may be purposely placed in harm's way to create a bloodbath that can be blamed on Israel....

Why would Israel "target" the Gaza power grid? I thought that Israel supplied them with electricity. They should just need to shut off the power and water.

I guess the U.S. elected a dictator? Can’t any of these losers in congress support Israel or is it only the President who matters these days.
Congress has as much Israeli blood on their hands as Obama if they never make an effort to step in. I know it’s supposed to be the President but I can’t believe the geniuses who wrote the Constitution didn’t allow for a would-be tyrant to win an election.

Thats the problemsharia and the humpin goat pedophile have kept them in the 7th century. No it hasn't. There wouldn't be a power grid to target if it had. They couldn't support the population density of that hell-hole if they had to rely on donkeys and camels to bring in supplies.
When I say 7th Century, I mean just that. No electricity, modern communications, modern medicine, transportation, sanitation...NOTHING that wasn't available in 620 AD.

Personal anecdote: We were making a small kiddush (banquet-let) at our synagogue in honor of my father-in-law’s yahrtzeit (anniversary of his death). We bought some cakes. We made some salads. Due to the missiles reaching Central Israel, a young couple moved their wedding from a large hall in Kiryat Malachi to a private home, and returned a large amount of goodies to the caterers. The caterers are the Tabachnik family, that makes the kosher frozen soups available in the US. The family matriarch lives near us in Kiryat Arba, and she donated this humungous amount of food to us for our kiddush, which was unfortunately underattended, as such things tend to be. So now we are stuck with a ton of mock chopped liver, eggplant, cake, salads made with strange vegetables I don’t know the names of, potato and macky salads, and soda. My mother-in-law, widow to the aforementioned, is living with us, and has just let me know that she has been up with heartburn all night because she can’t stomach this kind of food. So now it’s up to the three of us, wife, ten-year-old son and self, to finish this mountain. I’m trying to lose weight. At least we won’t have to shop for a while.

I believe it's something about the obligations under international law about the occupiers of a conquered territory. But, those laws say nothing about receiving hundreds of missiles of incoming fire.

They should just need to shut off the power and water. They might supply high voltage lines, but the transformers to step it down would be local. Blow them up and it would take months to get the juice back on. And it might shut down the water pumping system as well. Just speculatin'.
I can't believe people who don't even have an air force would be so stupid to attack a country that does. But then, they are stupid political tools of izzlam.

Poor Hamas....how dare the IDF fight back? The IDF is supposed to sit there and watch rockets from Gaza come and hit defenseless homes and families? What a miscalculation! I hope that the IDF levels every Hamas facility and keeps the pressure up until ZERO rockets are launched their way. Until then, invade, level and destroy. I cannot believe the Israelis have been so patient. Can you imagine 800 rockets in the last week being aimed at New York, Chicago or LA? I think we would do more than ask them to stop. As far as I am concerned, Israel should take back Gaza and the West Bank that they willingly gave up for future peace that never came to fruition.
