I’m surprised Obama hasn’t offered to just sell Wyoming and North Dakota to China. Maybe the’ll forgive some of his debt and call it even.

(cynicism)

Oh, great, now we’ll be buying our oil from China, too.

I say give China New York and California. They’re a better cultural match.

Personally, I hope the Chinese hit it big, REALLY big, on finding natural gas and oil. So big, in fact, that they become net EXPORTERS of natural gas (as LNG) and have such a huge surge in supplies that it becomes economically feasible to shut down their coals mining industry, and just use natural gas to fire their power generation stations.

If the Chinese can achieve this huge productivity gain, WITHOUT resorting to so-called “green” or “renewable” energy sources, and leap to the forefront of economic growth, the example it sets ought to shame even the most fervent Marxist into confronting the idea that artificial restrictions on energy production and distribution are ultimately destructive of the very ends they claim they hold in so much favor.

If you are going to give power to the people, then give people all the power they can use - to convert raw materials into useful end products.
