Personally, I hope the Chinese hit it big, REALLY big, on finding natural gas and oil. So big, in fact, that they become net EXPORTERS of natural gas (as LNG) and have such a huge surge in supplies that it becomes economically feasible to shut down their coals mining industry, and just use natural gas to fire their power generation stations.

If the Chinese can achieve this huge productivity gain, WITHOUT resorting to so-called “green” or “renewable” energy sources, and leap to the forefront of economic growth, the example it sets ought to shame even the most fervent Marxist into confronting the idea that artificial restrictions on energy production and distribution are ultimately destructive of the very ends they claim they hold in so much favor.

If you are going to give power to the people, then give people all the power they can use - to convert raw materials into useful end products.

The price of energy would go down around the world in your scenario. But China would grow stronger.

We won’t be teaching anyone any lessons with any sort of current events or history these days. I’d let those ideas pass.

We didn’t teach the GOP a lesson
We didn’t teach the American voters a lesson
We didn’t teach the unions a lesson
We didn’t teach the global warming nuts a lesson
We didn’t teach the dept. of education a lesson (ironic)
Reagan didn’t teach the world a lesson

I doubt anyone will notice or care that China is poluting the world or causing “Global Climate Change” that isn’t warming anymore.

So, I hope America get around to selling oil/gas/coal to the rest of the world before they do.
