Correction: Obama does not think reducing debt and deficits is a value at all. Debt is among his main tools for bringing America to its knees, along with regulation, taxes, and “unexpected” terrorist attacks.

One could ask first of all what budget, and secondly in what alternate universe that such an economy exists?

Certainly they are values. Is Mr. Carney suggesting that as between having debt and deficits and not having them, all other things being equal, there is no qualitative difference? Man, I hope not!
